Just Me,

I'm sure that instead of violating the Lord's Day, you could have easily found an afternoon ward service to attend, followed by some time meeting with the missionaries while you waited for an early evening fireside to begin. Then, back home to ponder and pray!

I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday!

Is this a trick question? Between September and February Sundays are set aside for the observance of NFL football. You can go hiking in the spring and summer.

Did someone mention fireside?

OOPS! My son (and I?) had a 1:30 meeting for YM and parents and there was also a 7:00 fireside.

He missed both. *cue evil cackle*

just me wrote:all right, I did my time this morning. Now what should I do?

I can't decide if I should go to the mall or go on a hike? After 3 hours of boring, unsatisfying meetings I deserve a treat.

PS The lesson on the post-mortal world was cray cray!

People can not help being boring. True...it would be much better if in the LDS church we had more joyce meyer's or Joel Osteen's to liven things up but then again, there is something unique with average people attempting to teach or speak about something. True, they may not tickle your pickle but on the other hand, they are just human beings attempting to do what they think they should do. But yes, we can judge them to be boring.

Nothing wrong with going to the Mall or for a hike on a sunday. Or you can volunteer next time to give a talk...I am sure that you will be exciting and get the people hopping with energy.

Apostate!! Any observant of The NFL Faith knows that you record the games then watch them after you hike. As your penance there shall be no cheese or picante sauce nachos for you next Sunday, and you will be required to repeat the name "Aaron Rodgers" ten times after every touchdown.

Considering what I THINK jm's material would be, I'd go. Happily.

I didn't say the speakers were boring. Geez. They were the best part. The subjects were totally ridiculous and boring. The humans are the most fascinating and enjoyable aspect of church.

Pretty sure the bishop would not be comfortable with me giving a talk, but thanks for the idea. LOL Not that there is a single topic I would be able to speak about in church with a straight face anyway...

Since during the week people are busy there is nothing wrong with being less busy on a sunday and given it all a rest for a while. One can go hiking on a saturday or even visit the mall. And on sunday one can do a family thing...go walking and play games together.

Or one can make a sunday like any other day of the week if one wishes to. But then, a sunday would not be unique.

Since every person is unique, every Sunday would be unique. What are you advocating?

Interestingly you fail to consider single people, without families.
Not that I blame you. Mormonism conditions people to think of solutions, activities etc solely from a family (Parents and children) point of view.
