Wow. BYU has recently unblocked youtube and now "BYU students Resurrect Student Review as Independent Voice".

An independent voice at a school where you are told what to wear, what to think, what to believe, what to do, and not to grow facial hair, etc....

BYU is finally becoming a bastion of intellectual freedom.

The article on Freemasonry was quite sugarcoated but at least he did mention 'secret handshakes'.

My sisters would bring home the Student Review when they were attending BYU in the early 90's. They had some really great articles. Glad to hear they are back.

I was just wondering, after looking at the picture in the link, if she has to change her thongs before she enters the campus?

I find it highly unlikely you're not a conformist of some sort.

Not everyone can be independent and thoroughly heretical like you.

I liked the SR back in the day. I really loved the student opinions that would bag on the silliness and arbitrariness of certain honor code "violations", like, getting turned away from the testing center for having a two or three day shadow....or, the fact that certain students with long hair would tuck it under a baseball cap.

I wouldn't be surprise if BYU and the Haight-Ashbury both become equally synonymous as counter culture epicenters. No, not really, but it sounded funny to write it.

Now hold on a minute there. While watching part of the BYU/Utah football game (??) the other night, this BYU commercial came on proclaiming BYU's "Independent spirit that's defined BYU for over 100 years".

Here, watch for yourself - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL4D-o4F ... re=related

They said it so it must be true. However, I was confused by the comment since in my four years attending BYU I never noticed ANYTHING, spirit or anything else that was independent. In fact, I felt it was their LACK of independence that defined BYU for over 100 years.

I'm glad the Student Review is making a comeback. It was a fun read before.
