Why? What is the point? Who benefits from it? The GAs? I doubt it. Who would want to give up so much time doing the work of a GA with very little to show for it. We need to remember that most GAs were successful in their private lives financially.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

For whom? I don't see GA families getting richer through church service.

That's right. Only Jesus gets rich. The money's just sitting in a great big pile waiting for him to return... just like for Harry Potter. And to claim it, he'll have to go in to a strange bank with an underground cave presided over by little goblins... just like for Harry Potter.
OK, I guess I shouldn't have made the goblin crack about the GAs. I probably should have gone with gnomes.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

If only the Primary objective was just to teach the children about music for the musical meeting once a year, I'd find the Mormon Church much more palatable.

Do you find that much purpose was lost with the discontinuation of the road shows?

Personally, I think it's an old con game that got out of control. Joseph started it. Brigham continued it and made it into an empire of sorts. After Brigham, the Mormon leadership didn't really know what to do with it. The money machine kept rolling without a clear idea of what to do with all the cash.
Corporations owning corporations. Vast amounts of money being invested in corporations that in turn reinvest. A financial monster that has a life of it's own.
Joseph Smith would be so pleased.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
