I don't' know what you deserve. Perhaps God in His wisdom sees fit that you only deserve what you get. That's funny, though--the high school guidance counselor. I don't remember ever knowing of such a person in school.

So you're saying that LDS members haven't deserved anything new in the last century?

I see.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

How many variations of the "it's your fault" trope are there, Stem?

To Scottie--I know what you mean about unrealized GC expectations.

It's sort of like feeling excited it's almost your birthday when you've gotten too old to care about the main event.

It's all Scottie's fault.

Damn you, Scottie.

Deserving it is a feeling of being entitled no? How do we know what God deems what we are entitled too? I don't see why that's not a question worth considering without twisting it to mean I think its Scottie's or anyone else's fault.

Ah well, you're after me again, it appears.

It's your fault for being such a tempting target . . .

You went on a mission, didn't you, Stem?

When on your mission, did you ever use the living prophet as a tool to preach how wonderful the restored gospel is?

Whether you did or not, we can assume that it is a commonly used tool that LDS missionaries use, right?

In doing so, what expectations do you think that the investigators might deduce from having a living prophet that talks directly to God? Do you think the expectations are made clear to these investigators that God works in mysterious ways, and that He has not seen any need to reveal anything worthwhile for over 200 years? Well, I guess maybe giving blacks the priesthood might be considered worthwhile...

What level of obedience do you believe the general church membership needs to attain for God to actually speak to the prophets and give us further light and knowledge?

A Missionary's song about General Conference

I can't get no self-esteem
I can't get no self-esteem
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm watchin' conference
And that man comes to the pulpit
He's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say

I can't get no self-esteem
I can't get no self-esteem
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

Well I'm watchin' my T.V.
And that man comes on to tell me
How happy I should be
But I can't be a man 'cause I don't pray
With the same testimony
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say

I can't get no self-esteem
I can't get no day dream
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm preachin' round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm saying that
And I'm tryin' to convert
I'm told maybe come back later next week
'Cause you see I'm on a no-baptism streak
I can't get no, oh no, no, no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say

I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no self-esteem
No self-esteem, no self-esteem, no self-esteem

Bingo!

That seems likely.
