I hope you are right about that, Stem.

Still I can't help remembering about ten years ago when a special priesthood session was called one Sunday evening at the stake center to discuss how we should defeat a ballot measure in our state for assisted suicide.

I left wondering whether the leaders wanted to make sure people had only violent options to end their life.

It sure didn't make sense to me.

Still doesn't.

Well, that's a different issue.

There have been numerous talks and pieces by LDS apostles and other general authorities over the years that express the same general theme you offer.

I thought someone was going to beat me to that quote. Whew!
We have no evidence that supports the existence of Jesus let alone him weeping.

Why is killing yourself, an act of consent, murder?

Why isn't killing brown people in the sand, an act of no consent, murder?

When speaking at my brothers funeral, I had a long pause, then said that the spirit just spoke to me and told me that I should tell the congergation that I went to the temple yesterday and prayed about his well-being (because he was a suicide), and that I received a strong feeling that everything was okay! I did go to the temple, and I did pray about him, but I never received anything that made me think he was okay... I had several people come up after and tell that I touched them and what a spiritual talk it was!

I "choked up" once while bearing my testimony in priesthood when I was 2nd counsellor.

I think I have a gift for the fake pause. Never got me laid though... :(

So you are a liar? That is ashame. Most likely you did give a spiritual talk about your brother with feeling. No need to fake information or a tear.

Assisted suicide can also be assisted murder if one is not careful. If assisted suicide was legalized, very little would stand in the way of an assisted murder if one wishes to kill someone who is sick.

So you are a liar?

A product of his Mormon culture, yes. That pretty much make him a liar. Fine observation.

Why is it Mormons think suicide has such negative eternal ramifications when there is nothing in any of the four standard works mentioning it?

Since human life is precious and a gift one should not kill oneself. It goes that way. However, I don't think that the LDS church condemns someone is has been deemed clinically depressed. But people do kill themselves if they lose their money or house or job. Or if they are getting divorced etc. There are a host of reasons for commiting suicide that may not be deemed understandable.

I didn't fake any tears at the funeral. Those were all real.
