As Greta Christina mentioned in her great talk on Atheism and Sexuality:

Greta Christina wrote:Personal revulsion should not translate into moral revulsion...

This was the crux of my epiphany about SSM. Realizing this should-be obvious idea is what transformed me from a primitive, religiously influenced homophobic bigot into the accepting member of humanity I am today.

I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of homophobia that exists these days is rooted in a lack of understanding that most basic principle. I actually think most people don't even realize that they're doing it (that is, translating their personal revulsion into moral revulsion) and pretend they have rational reasons to oppose homosexuality.

My *personal* experience has been that members in NYC have been more open to gay and lesbian members than in other areas I have lived including CT, AZ, Washington, UT and northern CA.

My sincere apologies if I offended you, Bob. It was certainly not my intent.

It is not a particularly effective rejoinder to me that I am "offended."

Flamboiently gay homosexuals give homosexuality a bad name because the flamboient ones are so full of crap it makes people waste their time. Any right thinking individual does not want to waste their time with all that drama.

Pahoran is a Christian fake of the Mormon ilk. His interpretations are no better than those of the official LDS Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 which Joe Smith (the pretended Egyptologist) made up to trick the saints -- and the duped saint's put it to scripture.

Ain't that right, Pahoran, you little liar? Pahoran is no better qualified to talk about Homosexual matters than he is regarding the false explanations of the above. He can't find the king's name in the Facsimile. Nor can he tell why some boys love other boys.

I'm afraid that Satan has hardened his heart.

Hahaha, Pahoran said it's not violence if you smack a fruit on the nose.

It's worth emphasizing again: thank goodness that Pahoran does NOT represent the vast majority of Mormon's views. I think most would strongly disagree with Pahoran's advocacy of violence towards gays and lesbians, should they "make a pass" at a straight individual, nor would most of them classify a come-on as "sexual assault," as he does.

For all his emphasizing of the vengeful passages attributed to Christ, Pahoran overlooks the more gentle, compassionate Christ, such as "turning the other cheek," "forgiving one's enemies seventy-times-seven," and "doing unto others as you would have them do unto you." Pahoran's view of diety is certainly harsh and bleek, in my opinion. Again--I think that's not representative of the God that most Latter-day Saints believe in. Perhaps Pahoran was dropped on his head as a baby? Or his own parents were overly-strident in punishment....? :-P

Pahoran should be on the payroll of every evangelical anti-Mormon ministry out there. Imagine how many testimonies he's shaken by spewing his filth all over the place. The man is an absolutely embarrassment to Mormonism. Well-done, thou good and faithful servant.

Yeah, he strikes me as the kind of guy who still puts a clothes pin on his pee pee at night to keep up the fine tradition of discipline he benefitted from growing up.
