How Important is/was LDS Leadership to You?

If you are now or have once been an active TBM male, how important was attaining LDS Leadership positions to you? Since this likely has varied during the time you've been a TBM male, please answer based not on an 'average' of how you felt or have felt during your TBM tenure, but based on that time that attaining LDS leadership positions was its strongest motivator while you have been or were TBM.
