So I sat down to watch some conference with my wife. I wasn't paying attention to the tv and I thought it was a woman saying the prayer. I looked up and to my surprise it was a man. Then the choir sang and many of the men singing seemed somewhat effeminate. I've never noticed this before. I've always attended church outside Utah. Is this a Utah male thing or more of a recent acceptance of gays in the church?

Please do!

I noticed in this session the camera locked on to the famous, or infamous, Brian Hales quite often.

I didn't know he was in the Choir.

I thought he was kind of gay when he was in my student ward. Now, wouldn't that be funny. But, he is married and has kids, I believe. So, I am sure he is not gay. ;)

I've definitely noticed that.

And I understand why they do it, too...

I just want to point out in case people are confused that a man having effeminate mannerisms is not the same as being gay.

Personality and sexuality are two different things.

So, the proper question is "do Mormon men at conference seem more effeminate than usual?"

I think it's called 'gaydar'.

No, you are thinking of that streetcar called Bronco. No, wait. Bronco only sounds gay. You were actually thinking of that streetcar named Desire. The correct answer was desire. His desire was going nuts. Not to worry, soon there will be an Angel with a Flaming Sword to aid in his deliverance.

I like to think I have pretty good gaydar. It goes off a lot whenever I see a video clip or image where there are a lot of Utah guys. I think Utah wards in particular are stuffed with a lot of closeted gay men. Out in the mission field I think they tend to go off and be themselves outside the church, due to lessened social pressure.
