Is the LDS Prophet Significant - Has he Ever Been?
Is the LDS prophet significant at all? Is he ever consulted or asked for comment on world religious issues? Do his comments on anything ever generate interest on a national or global level. Outside of Utah could 1 in 20 name him? Outside of the intermountain west could 1 in 100, 1000 name him?
Or would he be right up there with the recognition of the MI or MST?
Or would he be right up there with the recognition of the MI or MST?

Hey, the prophet isn't even included in MST. Obviously not considered a scholar.

He recently was asked to write and op ed for the Washington Post I believe around 9/11. Presidents usually like to visit him.

I don't think any world leaders are glued to the tv watching conference to hear the word of god through his prophet.

An "op ed" piece from the "claimed" only true living prophet of god?!?!?! Now there's an impressive global stage for the only "claimed" living prophet of god! I think Warren Jeffs is more recognized and would be in greater demand for a network interview!
Has Monson met w Obama yet?
Has Monson ever attracted a meaningful audience to speak about the teachings of Christ outside of Provo?
I just remember the funeral of John Paul II . Along w all world leaders in attendance, all world religious leaders were invited and attended ........ except the only "claimed" true living prophet of god!
With all the millions of dollars the Mormon church spends on recognition in commercial advertising, why not spend to promote recognition for the only "claimed" true living prophet of god?

If, as Mormons believe, you are entitled to receive personal revelation from God for you and your family, then you do not need a Prophet.
He can't tell you anything more than God can tell you direct.
And that's a Mormon Gospel Principle.

General Confernce for the LDS Church is obviously THE MOST SPECTACULAR PLATFORM the Mormon prophet will ever have to show his knowledge, significance and abiliity to attract and lead as Christ would have wanted his only claimed "living prophet".
Did it get any traction outside of Provo?

Not to diminish it, but President Monson's op-ed was part of a series of different articles looking at the effects of 9/11.
Dalai Lama: Yearning for co-existence
Tony Blair: Remaking the world after 9/11
Desmond Tutu: Our post-9/11 failures
Thomas Monson: Rebuilding our souls
T.D. Jakes: Spirituality after the attack
Feisal Abdul Rauf: Radical Islam on its way out
Donald Wuerl: Peace begins internally
Katharine Jefferts Schori: Live the memorial
Mark Driscoll: Death and the hope of resurrection
Karen Armstrong: Unite through compassion
Deepak Chopra: Divided hearts, divided world
Yasir Qadhi: Americans still don’t know Islam
