What's wrong with baking bread? My dad, an inactive smoking drinking Mormon loves to bake bread as a hobby. Lot's of non LDS actually do such things too.
I hate anyone who bakes bread, so I hate your dad. Tell him I said so. ;) But also ask him what he's drinking, maybe I'll have a shot with him.
What I can't stand is whiny ass religious people who cry at every turn and drag their god out in their otherwise directionless lives. In this particular case these religious people think their god cares about them winning huge sums of money on a game show and that he is guiding their actions while they participate. That is what I find pathetic, and it is an unfortunate part of Survivor that has crept in the last several episodes.
No, this thread is about a higher profile Mormon than your standard chapel Mormon. She's a BYU professor on an island with scantly clad people - and she's out of her element and out of her garmies. I find it amusing to watch her out of the Moridor and her little world of control and probable manipulation - and into a place she can't control. And proof of that was the first episode of her breaking down bawling for 10 minutes because of it. You can go to CBS.com and go watch the first episode if you like and watch it.
I'm not casting votes against her just because she's Mormon, this is a Mormon themed board, therefore the thread is relevant.
The thread split into two parts simply because of the large amount of whiny ass Christians blathering on about their pathetic lives. And this is what religion does to people, particularly Christianity. It causes people to become more dependent upon this unknown, unheard, unseen deity rather than become stronger and more dependent knowing they have to make their own decisions. Being Christian or being religious is like wandering around in a fog of uncertainty and wasting your life away hoping some eternal sky daddy is going to give two craps about guiding your life. The leaders of the Mormon cult have capitalized on this - wear underwear stolen from the masons, perform silly rituals in secret and then pay us 10% of your income for life - and you'll be safe. Mostly.
As for Dawn and Survivor, she's already won a challenge for her tribe which puts her in a good light - she's not too overbearing, but has shown she's got enough strength to hold up in challenges - something that keeps a tribe alive. We'll see if that holds up. Most Mormons don't blather on about their religion when they aren't in the company of other Mormons - unlike real Christians who take any time given to them to boob on about Jesus this and Jesus that.
