From my own personal hymn book:

Oh, Holy crap!

O Holy crap! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the light of our dear Savior’s girth.
Long lay the world believing without question.
Till He appeared looking like Colin Firth.
A thrill of hope they hang on every tall tale,
We don’t let up till your brain is squeaky clean.
Fall on your knees! Believe all that I tell you!
Don’t fight the lie, the lie of how the Christ was born;
Don’t fight, Don’t dare fight, the holy lie!
Don’t fight, Don’t dare fight, the holy lie!
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

I felt the spirit through your hymn. Holy BS is true. The Church is true! See y'all back on Sunday.
I'm the apostate your bishop warned you about.

That is an excellent argument explaining why God doesn't care what church you belong to. Thanks for providing that insight, bcspace.

I guess Bcspace would not have a problem with Joseph making up the religion because it might bring people to Christ.

Actually I would because such would not be the word of God.

That is an excellent argument explaining why God doesn't care what church you belong to.

Not at all. The word of God says there's only one true Church. Doesn't have any bearing at all on what baseball team PHD did or did not belong to.

The clearest analogs to your intellectual failure to understand might be the boy who cried wolf (the sheep were still eaten) or hypocrisy (in which the truth is still communicated and is still the truth despite the actions of another).

So, Dunn is the boy who cried wolf?

I could go with that.

So bcspace, are you saying that the Book of Mormon could be jammed full of factual lies but people would still be able to feel the spirit of it?

Here is what you said

Because the word of God is stil the word of God no matter where it is sown (see the parable of the sower). Good people are still flawed which doesn't mean they can't bring the Spirit.

This is the same kind of thinking of those who believe the Book of Mormon to be inspired fiction. Joseph and company may have thought the same, knowing that the Book of Mormon is made up, but because they were putting the word of God into it, as they believed, it would still be inspired of God, and that they to are inspired of God. Pious fraud idea. Your statement defending PHD really is no different then those who defend the Book of Mormon as inspired fiction.

Yup. bcspace has tacitly admitted that the Book of Mormon could be inspired fiction, for all he knows.

Hmmmmm...if this is so, then why not let Dunn continue telling his fables? Why put him out to pasture (Emeritus status) at such a relatively young age? It would appear his "deficiencies" were a "stumbling block" for the Brethren as well. Perhaps they weren't into "sifting".

Interesting how the "Spirit" that is so trusted and relied upon by so many, would confirm someone's lies as truths in order to maintain the integrity of the "word of God". Interesting.
