What's your point? I consider the Book of Abraham to be one of the most inspirational texts in the quad. For my take on Kolob, see this old blog article.

I just read your blog entry. All I can say is that this is exactly like the rest of Mormon apologetics: when you get called on something that is a testable claim (that the sun receives its physical light from Kolob through an unknown means of transference), take that claim and shove it so far into the "spiritual"/metaphorical realm that it will never see the light of day again.

I mean, really? You're claiming that Kolob wasn't actually a star but that "Kolob is Jesus Christ" ? That's how you're going to resolve the problems with the Book of Abraham: push everything into the "spiritual" realm?

I was walking in a field not too long ago, and I saw a cow terd that looked like it had a picture of Jesus on it. When my friend looked at it, he didn't see it. So, I called him out on it. "Ye of little faith. This cow terd is a metaphor for Jesus. Duh!"

We are not friends anymore.

This story never happened. It is a metaphor for Jesus, like Kolob.

Interpreting a religious text in a spiritual sense? Crazy, I know.

I'll try not to let it ruin my day. :)

Joseph A,

What do your local leaders think of your theory that Kolob is Christ?

And something I'm not sure your blog quite clarifies - how exactly does Christ give light/power to our Sun?

I've no idea. Since it's mentioned in the Institute manual, I can't imagine they have much of a problem with it.

Kolob isn't the only astral metaphor in the book.

Hmmm...so why does the chapter heading tell us that "Abraham learns about the Sun and the Stars" instead of "Abraham learns about Christ"?

Then what is the name of the king of Egypt that is written in the writing of Facismile No. 3 according to the inspiration and authority of Joseph Smith, the pretended prophet?

What's the name?

Oh, Joseph Smith was a liar.

The name of the king in Facsimile No. 3 is . . . .

. . . .

. . . .

Nibley is dead and never said it. President Tommy-Monson-boy hasn't a clue.

And Joseph Smith had sex with multiple women and so did Brigham Young. Everyone clap your hands!! Mormon prophets have orgies! I'll bet Brigham loved porn!
