Is Darrick Evenson a true Christian? (Mormon topic)

This is a Mormon topic because I discuss experiences on my Mormon mission with certain "Christian" men who had just seen "The God Makers" film.

Nomono (or Mo-no-mo) asked me if I thought I was a "true Christian". Here is my reply:

I'm not sure what a "true Christian" is! On my mission for the Mormon Church, in San Jose California (1983-85), during the time "The God Makers" was being shown at "Christian" churches, we had large angry "Christian" men using language so foul that it would make a drunken sailor blush. Some of them claimed I f****d my own mother. Some would spit on us or near us. Others would punch us or threaten to. A few slapped us. A few tried to run us off the road or cause us to have accidents. Others threatened to kill us or beat us. Where THEY "true Christians"? After all, they believed....

*Only the 66 books of the Protestant Bible were inspired of God. All else is of the Devil.

*Salvation by saying "The Sinner's Prayer" alone.

*All those who are NOT born-again fundamentalist evangelical Christians to burn in Hell forever.

*The Golden Rule ("Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you") applies ONLY to fellow Christians, not to Mormons or others, whom you can spit on, lie to, steal from, rape, or even kill (because Mormons are blasphemers and the Law of Moses is still under effect for blasphemers).

I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the Cross for my sins, that He performed supernatural miracles, was raised from the dead, and ascended in a cloud from the Mount of Olives. But....that is ___all____ I agree with Evangelicals on. Almost everything else, I disagree with them. I DO NOT believe that....

*Dinosaurs died because Noah could not fit them on the Ark.
*Adam and Eve were the first humans
*All the races of mankind come from the three sons of Noah
*The earth and cosmos was created in six 24-hour days
*Plants and whales were created before the Sun was created
*The Flood covered the entire planet past Mount Everest
*Salvation is via reciting "The Sinner's Prayer"
*One must believe in the Trinity in order to be a Christian
*The Golden Rule pplies only to fellow Christians and not to non-Christians
*As a Christian you must sit in Church on Sunday and pay a man a lot of money so he can live in a big house, drive the newest big car, marry the most beautiful woman, have great vacations to Israel and elsehwere, and so he can have a 5-hour work week while you sit in Church every Sunday to hear his "spin" on what he thinks the Bible says (because...after all...he spent three years studing Hebrew and Greek)
*The Book of Revelations ended all visions and divine Revelation to mankind
*Muhammad was a false prophet
*Reincarnation is false and of the devil
*All non-Christians burn in Hell fire for-ever

*Ghosts are really demons just pretending to be our dead loved ones
*Buddha, Zoroaster, Mahivira, Baha'u'llah, Muhammad, and Dr. Dahesh are all messengers of the Devil....

I do NOT believe in any of the above. So, I cannot be a "Christian" as that word is defined by the Evangelical Christian world.

I'm with Ghandi: "I like your Christ, but you Christians are so unlike your Christ!"

I will let Jesus Christ decide who is a "true Christian" or not. Not me. I won't even decide that for myself.

True religion is not picking teams for basketball.
This over-educated generation is far too self-enfranchised to ever find the door to the sheep-fold, get Christ to open, and remain firm upon the rock of Christ being taught of God after they are literally visited by fire and the power of the Holy Ghost, having made a real covenant and been conceived the children of God. Pride is in every thought. Never meekness, never a contrite spirit.
All is vanity and self-promotion. We buy for and sell with pride as if we had already received the mark of the Beast. A precursor.
