I have never heard someone in authority say that we follow the prophet and GAs without question. But I know where you are coming from. With some members it can seem that way and they may feel a little uncomfortable with someone questioning the GAs. But I have never heard anyone in church say that we should follow the leader.

Why me - how would you interpret the well known phrase "when the Prophet speaks, the thinking has been done"?
'Church pictures are not always accurate' (The Nehor May 4th 2011)
Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right.

If you can talk about that, why do you protest when others talk about how Dunn's Mormon beliefs clouded his love for his fellow Latter-day Saints and led him to tell devastating, self-aggrandizing lies to millions of people? How his fellow LDS leaders laid aside the sanctity of honesty and doing what's right to protect Dunn's lies and punish the person primarily responsible for blowing the whistle on him?

Follow the prophet, follow the prophet, follow the prophet, don't go astraaaaaay! Follow the prophet, follow the prophet, follow the prophet, he knows the WAY!!!

Oh, sure, you're supposed to take it to the Lord. pray about it and have it confirmed to you.
The problem is that if you get a different answer you are WRONG.
So, what is the point of praying about it? Did the Spirit tell members that Dunn was telling fiction?

You have no point. My point is simple: one can not condemn an entire church because of Paul H. Dunn. And that was my point. Dunn made a mistake. He's dead. He made a mistake. Move on.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

If you don't like the LDS church, you can always leave. No problem. If you are in salt lake, head down to the catholic cathedral and go to mass and join the catholics for their coffee hour. Of course they have the pope. Protestants tend to listen to their pastor. No sense attending a church when one does not listen to their pastor, pope, or prophet.

Later in 1991, Dunn asked the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the church for permission to issue an open letter to all Latter-day Saints. The church agreed, and on October 26 the following letter was published in the Church News, a supplement section of Deseret Morning News, a newspaper owned by the LDS Church:
"October 23, 1991 "I have been accused of various activities unbecoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "I confess that I have not always been accurate in my public talks and writings. Furthermore, I have indulged in other activities inconsistent with the high and sacred office which I have held. "For all of these I feel a deep sense of remorse, and ask forgiveness of any whom I may have offended. "My brethren of the General Authorities, over a long period of time, have conducted in-depth investigations of the charges made against me. They have weighed the evidence. They have censured me and placed a heavy penalty upon me. "I accept their censure and the imposed penalty, and pledge to conduct my life in such a way as to merit their confidence and full fellowship. "In making these acknowledgements, I plead for the understanding of my brethren and sisters throughout the Church and give assurance of my determination so to live as to bring added respect to the cause I deeply love, and honor to the Lord who is my Redeemer. "Sincerely, Paul H. Dunn"
I forgive him. Unfortunately, I am dealing with a heartless crew on this forum.
