No, I think this is just a case of God running out of fence-sitting spirits to send to dark-skinned families. ;)

So, Brigham lived in his "moment" -- kind of like being in the Dark Ages when man was so unenlightened by science & art and social understandings. So, you'd just give Brigham a free pass because after all he's a product of his time and such a one cannot be properly taught by an underling.

Good one, Why Me -- you are such a saint in your own time.

I would give Brigham a free pass as I would my own father who also lived in the moment of his own time. During the riots in the 60s he went out and bought a shot gun to protect his family from the rioters. He also had some typical choice words for african americans. But then again, african americans had some choice words for whites. Such was the moment.

Listen to the way you justify your unChristianity! Wow. So your father failed to learn that turning the other cheek and not spewing out hateful (choice) words is being a true Christian. Your father was willing to shoot the rascals (slave-like man according to Facsimile No. 3) rather than follow the example of the Book of Mormon and let themselves be hewn down by the sword of the Lamanites.

I don't give a rat's ass that the African Americans had choice words for the whites. Your father was not Christian and I don't think you are either. You're fake, Why Me. Your Christianity is no more real than the name of the king in Facsimile No. 3. Joseph Smith and Brigham young were fakes and so are you!

Paul,

Were you even alive in the time period that why me is referring to? When I consider the Newark riots in the summer of 67, had I lived in that area, I would have done the same thing that his father did.

It was quite a situation. Luckily we lived across the river and the bridges were turned so the rioter couldn't cross over the bridge. But the police and the townspeople were guarding the bridges anyway. Paul doesn't get living in the moment. Archie Bunker was successful because he lived in the moment and showed people just what the moment was.

My father worked in Newark and it was always get out of town by sundown for him.

it cost nothing to open the mouth and make a comment in relief society or priesthood. She could have started a lot of discussion about it and people's minds could have been opened.

Actually, I was living in San Fran attending kindergarten at that time watching the hell's angels do their thing in the parks.

Bottom line, true Christians turn the other cheek, etc. At least that's what I've read in the Bible about Christians. I don't care what era it is or where. Either one lives as a Christian or they don't.

I think some aspects of Christian living are wonderful but others aren't.

I can't think of a group less christian than people who are loud about being christian. Just look at the visible GOP, for instance. Clearly, their vision of Jesus is a machine gun toting CEO crushing the poor under his feet, yelling at them to get a job.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

It's really courageous of Why Me to come down on the side of racism. You go, girl!
