It all depends on the type of pornography you're talking about.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Maybe you should set up a poll so people will answer honestly.

I firmly believe that these are every bit the equivalent to male "visual" porn.
Whenever I hear about women that feel "cheated on" because a guy watched porn, I can't help but think of Twilight. Chances are they all got an emotional high from Edward and Bella. Why isn't this considered cheating on their husband?
Isn't it interesting that when a woman is aroused by a book, a guy thinks, "WOO HOO!! Score!" But if a guy is aroused by porn, the wife feels degraded? Why can't the woman just watch it with her man and think, "WOO HOO! This is going to arouse him and I'll score!"
I don't know what Twillight is, Scottie, I can only assume by the context of your post. I don't really read fiction to start with, unless you count the HP series. :-) I've never read a "romance novel" but I'd have to say (without experience to draw on) that it's not something I would spend time on. (Of course, spending time on this board probably isn't any better!).
I have seen porn and based on what I have seen, I think it's digusting, base, objectifies both male and females, reduces human beings to a collection of body parts and is generally not something I want to put into my mind. I find the whole entirety of that offensive.
So yeah, I am against both romance novels and against porn. For the reasons stated above and the fact that I see no real reason for either.

Well, that's what I say. Droopy doesn't seem to want to share. He considers fully clothed kissing couples to be porn.
Pornography is a very broad thing, Droopy.

Loran,
I hope my previous post to Scottie sufficiently answers your OP question. I did want to say that I think there is a difference between "erotica" and "porn". But still, I don't see a reason for erotica either.
I'm probably in the minority on this board but that doesn't bother me much.

I think as I said in my post to Droopy, there is porn and there is erotica. I don't know how to categorize images of clothed kissing couples, but again, I don't see the point in viewing it unless it is somehow inspiring to folks in a way that I don't understand.

Is this the working definition of porn you're using, Droopy?
"Pornography is any material depicting or describing the human body or sexual conduct in a way that arouses sexual feelings. It is distributed through many media, including magazines, books, television, movies, music, and the Internet." - from LDS.org
Or did you have another in mind?

I find kissing pictures to be very beautiful and inspiring.
Droopy, you can put me firmly in the camp of neutral/undecided. I would have to decide on a case by case basis since pornography is such a broad category.

You know what throws a wrench in this? There are people who are sexually aroused by dirty tube socks.

Re: Who Here Supports and Defends Pornography as Legitimate?
Allow the expert to respond:
Porn became popular in the early 1980's as a response to AIDS. In fact, it was recommended for gay men in particular. And the heteros followed. The logic was simple: safer to watch porn than to have actual sex. AIDS was in the early stages of knowledge. No one actually knew what it was back in 1982.
So, porn took off and went directly into the home with the vcr which was mass marketed just 4 years earlier. Without the HIV virus it is uncertain if porn would have been successful as it was. My take is simple: with the advent of HIV and genital herpes plus with the rampant rise of stds, porn can be a safe way to experience visual sex. However, if one is married, best to stay away from it. And if one is single, and if one wishes to view porn, best to stay away from the more exploitive type of porn and watch porn which shows sex in a natural way and setting among people who treat each other well and with respect during the act.
But this porn is hard to find and come by. But there is a man/woman team that do make such films. But they are an exception and not the rule.
