I have to say that I would have been wondering just what brought it all on. And then, I would have brought some sanity into it by saying just what I said here: we have no idea who this woman is and what is her station in life. So, why the reaction? It would have been a good heart to heart talk.

I don't know about offering an apology. It was her reaction. She has some pain or something there. I'm sure the HT felt uncomfortable but didn't feel they needed or deserved an apology at all.
I do agree that her reaction did not really pertain to the context of their story though, which is a bit unfortunate in a way.
Love ya tons, Stem

Right. Just like temple marriage was always framed as a choice and a recommendation.
etc, ad nauseum

No. I just answered your question. I am only putting myself in the home teacher's place. Nothing more.

For clarity. You're saying that consigshould not have 'spoken up' when he objected to the home teacher's statements in the privacy of his home--but that just meshould have 'spoken up' when she objected to a teacher's lesson in a room full of TBMs at church. Is this correct?
One could view Consig's wife's reaction to the home teachers as belonging precisely to the class of information that home teachers are there to gather and report back to the bishop. Mission accomplished!

But I can not tolerate someone who bitches and complains on a board and remains silent when a voice could make a difference in such a situation that just me found herself in. And that was my point.
I have an idea, Why Me. Try putting yourself in the wife's place. Or did all that porno and dry damned in the 70's leave you too sexist to empathize like that?

Yeah, except by the "prophets" Spencer W. Kimball and Ezra Taft Benson.

Yes, why me. We all wait with bated breath to learn why it was not acceptable for Mrs. Consig to speak up in her own home about something that she didn't like verses not acceptable for me to remain silent in church about something I didn't like.
