Too bad the truth discussions can't openly take place in LDS buildings during Sunday School.
Most, if not all, public misunderstanding is due to antiMormon yellow journalism. Evangelical and otherwise.
Did you watch the video?
Yes. I found it to be contextually non sequitur and I couldn't tell when the accurate descriptions began.
If you did, what was "yellow" about the description of Mormonism's foundational truth claims?
The use of "stone in hat" for comedic effect without explaining why he would do that. Focusing on the process rather than the actual substance of translation. Magic underwear. etc.

Second, the Mormon Church cannot control what is and what is not being discussed. Unlike Mormons, the American media and people are not willing to let the 'thinking be done' when the correlated manuals come out.

Notice the one faith that you omitted: Islam. They wouldn't touch that faith with a ten foot pole. It does seem that muslims do control what is said about them by threatening a fatwah and loss of head.

Many americans do not like a religion mocked. Now of course, the antimormons don't mind. But the average american could not care less about Mitt's religion. And most think that Mormons are okay people.

Sorry, but when it comes to use of a "stone in a hat" as a method for "translation" of an imaginary language from highly suspect source material that nobody ever saw (except with spiritual eyes) and which is (not surprisingly) nowhere in sight during the "translation process", there is no rational explanation.
Can you not see that?

It would seem that in this age the Broadway musical Book of Mormon is giving people a perception that Mormons are good and caring people who simply believe in some strange things. While the I am a Mormon campaign clearly looks deceptive. If the church wanted to do a better job with it's image it should fire their PR firm and hire Parker, Stone and Associates.

If you think the reporting in this piece would help to improve the poor image of Mormons held by most of the public (according to the Church's own polling results), then you should read it again.
How can a litany comprised of recent negative comments by famous people about Mormonism help the image of the Church and Mormons?

There are a lot of things people have never seen or heard of before. Sorry, but I see what you are saying and it's irrational and intellectually dishonest. Yellow Journalism.
