This is the problem. Difficult when there is no time to be parents. You remember in the past with home economic classes and what was taught in those classes. Now, parenting is a profession in short supply. In countries where day care is the norm, the kids are being raised without parents. And parents today are worried about their jobs snd they are working more to save their job and the kids suffer.

Now what is not being told on this thread is the influence of the LDS church is the critics lives. For those who leave the church and work outside the home or for members who work outside the home, they still have been taught to be good parents by the LDS church. The purpose of family home evening was to bring the family together at least once a week. Would this be needed if one parent was always at home? Maybe not. Men and women were always working outside the home and still being good members of the LDS church.

The LDS church teaches people how to be good parents by teaching love and other good family oriented values. The critics will not acknowledge this however.

Tell me what day care professionals do?

In europe, they are trained to take care of children in government sponsored day cares. Now they do a good job in many cases but today with spending cuts, they have more children to watch and care for. And this creates another problem. The parents are working becoming tired during the day and the day care worker is tired from the amount of children they are watching over. Not good.

Yes, I do. I participated in those types of classes as a student. The home ec classes that I attended had virtually nothing to do with parenting.

Now, parenting is a profession in short supply. In countries where day care is the norm, the kids are being raised without parents. And parents today are worried about their jobs snd they are working more to save their job and the kids suffer.

Agree.

The above has absolutely nothing to do with parenting skills.

Let me rephrase my question.

How would you suggest parents be taught parenting skills?

What about in the US? What do day care workers do in the US?

[quote="EAllusion"You're not arguing that parents should spend more time at home. You are arguing that women should be homemakers. These are quite distinct things. Men can stay at home too.[/quote]

I am arguing that in an ideal world, it is best if the mom stays home. But then, the mom needs to be taught how to be a good mother. In the past it was more or less a given. Now, women and men have lost the ability to be good fathers and mothers because the values are changing. Men also need to be taught how to be good fathers.

The LDS church does a good job in teaching people how to be good parents. It is in the family value structure. And all here on this forum have benefited from LDS family value teaching.

Day care is private. It depends on the place where a child is put into. However, the costs are extreme and difficult for average income people to do. This puts an extra burden on family income. The point is: parents are not spending quality time being parents.

They can take some pointers from LDS teaching. Mormons are highly respected for their family values. Why? Because the LDS church teaches wonderful family values.

Uh, you didn't answer my question. Let me rephrase it.

What do day care workers in the US do for and with children?

How quaint.

In between watching porn and punishing the pope, why me, the admitted 30 year inactive Mormon, who is also divorced, is telling us all that which he could not live up to himself due to his own apparent lack of discipline.

Perhaps a better screen name for him would be "who me"?
