Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
The result may not a country all of us would like to live in (or even next to), but if it is a mess, it will be the Libyan's own mess, not a mess created by occupiers with no plan for what to do next. And no young Americans, Englishmen or other non-Libyans sent by NATO have died to achieve this result.
But here's a question for this board: How long will it take before Gaddafi is baptized by some keen young LDS people? I'd quite like that to happen to him, really, so he can enjoy eternity in the company of the exalted Schryver and bcspace, which I know is bound to give him keen pleasure. Has Osama bin Laden been given this wonderful privilege yet, and if not why not?
