Yeah, I feel like his sexist excuse actually just highlighted it.
I suppose that your husbad should stop opening the door for you, if he is doing it. It can be looked upon as sexist. Or if there is only one umbrella and it is rather a small one at that, maybe he should use it himself and allow you to get wet since it was his umbrella. Why should he offer it to you?
The things men do for women out of politeness is now thought of to be sexist.
I am a woman who happens to open doors for men and women. It would be sexist to only open them for women. I especially open them for people who are carrying many items in their arms. I thought that was just common curtesy.
If a woman is a poor planner and doesn't plan for weather why on this green earth should a man who
did plan ahead get all wet or cold???
Women aren't idiots anymore than men are. They can bring their own damn coat, their own damn umbrella and wear a damn pair of boots if there will be rain and mud.
It's "though of" as sexist because it
is sexist by definition. But you already know that.
This exclusion wasn't about mud. Not for one second was it about mud.
Feel free to prove me wrong by finding me a temple groundbreaking where the Relief Society and/or Young Women were invited to participate in the
actual groundbreaking ceremony. Show me that they are only excluded in muddy weather out of misguided chivalry. I'm sure you also noticed that lots of females grabbed up shovels to turn the earth AFTER the ceremony was over...muddy shoes did not seem to be a concern. Given that there was a lovely green carpet laid out it didn't even seem to be a problem.
