I am not a global warming skeptic; it is probably happening. I am not a global cooling skeptic, either; it probably happened. We go in cycles, people.

Read the novel by Michael Crichton called State of Fear if you want to see why at least politicians might be motivated and have gain by pretending AGW is real. Scientists can be funded by politicians. And scientists are not always objective as some want to think they are.

By the way there is clearly climate change going on. Whether humans are the main driver and what the over all impact might be long terms is I think worthy of pursuit. And we certainly need to take steps to get away from fossil fuels regardless because there are many other detrimental impact beyond AGW.

I've read this book and thought it was a pretty fun read. Pretty informative as well.

The first is the slow down or stopping of the warm water conveyor that helps transport heat from the tropics to the temperate zones. This ocean conveyor depends on the relative salinity of water in the northern oceans and could be shut down by increased arctic snow melt and the resulting reduction in arctic ocean salinity.

So the movie The Day After Tomorrow could happen.
