While a relatively minor note, Facsimile 2 was not on the Hor Book of Breathings, nor was it on Hor's mummy. Instead it was likely found with on a mummy named Sheshonk. Not that Joseph Smith realized this was the case as far as I can tell.
I disagree this is a minor note. This suggests ( as you point out) that Joseph didn't realize that these documents had anything to do with the specific people with whom they were buried. He must have thought that regardless of which mummy they were found with, ALL Egyptian texts were a source of scripture. To me this not a small matter that lends itself to Joseph's gross ignorance about what exactly was in his possession.

Ouch! Spanked! That's gotta hurt!

I wonder how Will is going to try to weasel out of this one. Bets, anyone? My money is on "I don't see a match there." I have to laugh, because all of Schryer's posts now just assume that everyone has heard his presentation and has accepted it as irrefutable fact--anyone who disagrees or is unfamiliar is just an unqualified idiot. All subsequent discussion of the issue must fit into his framework in order to be valid and relevant. Delusions of grandeur.

I really enjoy reading your posts, Chris. Yours are the most level-headed, calm, rational, informed, fact-based arguments that I encounter on these boards. I don't think I've ever seen you derail a thread or engage in ad hominem, even when ad hominem has been levelled against you. And you never seem to let yourself fall into the traps that the mopologists try to set for you.

Not to be overly crass, but it's as if Chris Smith got a running start and then kicked William Schryver squarely in the balls.

Hello Will,

Why don't you dive back in and let's have a discussion about the facts...

Also, really looking forward to reading your forthcoming publication.
(it is to be forthcoming this time isn't it?)

The facts are not Will's friends.

Chris,

Is Will correct when he says there are 4 characters of the 69 that have explanations that can be found on the papyri? If so, what do you make of the other 65 characters with explanations? It appears Will thinks George's claim that he will demonstrate the other characters to be from the papyri will result in George making some pretty tenuous connections.

Even though there are characters transcribed from the papyri I'm not sure it follows that the EA itself was accomplished during or before the Book of Abraham translation. I guess what to make of that is perhaps Will's idea that the actual translation wasn't said to come from the BoB.
