Are LDS brides prepared for what they'll wear in sealings?
Re: Are LDS brides prepared for what they'll wear in sealings?
Actually, let's come at this from a different tact rather than endlessly piling on Stem.
Stem stated that many LDS women who marry "know full well what is going on".
That doesn't necessarily mean that they have been through an endowment session, or that they have witnessed a sealing.
It sounds like in Stem's case, his wife had gone through the temple before they were married, and they had the opportunity to attend several sessions before being sealed. That is actually quite an unusual situation, from what I have observed. I think it's great, but it is far from the norm.
However, I think that there is merit in Stem's case that there are plenty of LDS women who do cherish their wedding day in the LDS temple, and were adequately prepared for what they were to expect.
I think that Jason brings out a valid point as well. There should be more open communication and preparation available for first-time temple goers.
My daughter was married in the Raleigh temple in July. Her grandfather is the temple president, and performed the sealing. It was a very special experience for her, and everyone who attended.
In addressing the OP, one thing that her grandmother did, which, I think made the experience much more enjoyable for her, is that she bought my daughter a beautiful temple dress for the actual sealing ceremony. Her actual wedding dress had a very long train, and would have been very difficult for her to move around in. After the sealing, we went into the Bridal room, and I was able to help her change into her "fancy" dress for pictures outside.

So the pictures in her fancy wedding dress were not of the dress in which she was wed. She wanted the pictures to be a remembrance of what? The wedding she had or the one she had dreamed since a little girl?

What are you talking about you've posted here a day? Also are you saying that 1,000 people cannot be said to be many?

The pictures were a remembrance of her happiness of the day, which they were. She HAD the wedding she wanted! Also, she wore her fancy wedding dress at the ring ceremony and reception that we held later in the day.

Many women have seen the sealing before but I would think the majority have not.

You're welcome, Stem.
See? I don't always ignore you, or merely post to point out your faults. LOL ;-)

1,000 out of 2,000 is many
1,000 out of 1,000,000 is not many
I'm also saying that when you said you knew 'many women' you were being environmentally friendly with your emissions.

What a silly way to quibble about language, if you ask me. Many is not referenced to a proportion, necessarily. I did not say "many women out of the percentage of women in the Church" did I? My goodness...some ofyou folks will quibble about anything when it comes to talking to some LDS, it seems.
