seriously, what do mean Jesus' role has changed? was He not the Savior to Joseph Smith? Is He not the Savior to the modern LDS? LORD? Christ? Only Begotten Son? Mediator?

I actually think christainity will become unfashionable at some point in human history. I won't see it in my life time but I'm going to predict not too many will believe in it in about 500 years.

The point is people that believed in Zeus never would've thought that religion was going to die or become very unpopular. Just like the people that believe in Christ don't think that christianity will ever die or become very unpopular.

It just seems to me that the nature of Jesus has been much more fluid than the belief that the LDS Priesthood is the only organization that has the authority to speak for God on earth. Jesus wasn't even Jehovah until long after Joseph Smith died. God was Jehovah early on, and Jesus was the Son of God/Jehovah. Then God became Adam for a little while. Then God became Elohim, and Jesus became Jehovah. Before 1835 God and Jesus weren't separate beings. Now they are. It's been taught that Jesus was conceived naturally when God took mary to his bed chambers and spilled his seed in her, but that has been denied by many who hold to the more traditional view that Jesus was magically zapped into her whom. Jesus atones for all sins, except for a period of time when he could not atone for murder and the church authorities had to implement blood atonement, but now Jesus can atone for murder again. Back in the 80s, apostle Bruce R. McConkie said Mormons do not worship Jesus Christ, but on the current Mormon.org site it says Mormons do worship Jesus Christ. In the 70s and 80s works were emphasized over grace. Over the past 10 years or so the church is focusing a little more on grace.
Yet, through all of this, over the past 170 years, the one constant is that the LDS priesthood holds the keys of authority in this dispensation. That has never changed a bit, and never will.
