Why this petty derail onto "many"? Why not discuss the actual premise of the OP? As in... are LDS brides prepared for temple sealings?

Granted, I couldn't have cared less what the whole temple experience was when I was married 40 years ago. I was a convert; and I just wanted it to be over so we could start the honeymoon! My DH and I took out our endowment about 30 minutes before we were sealed. We knew only a handful of people in the place (his parents, his grandparents, an aunt and uncle; mine were a thousand miles away and wouldn't have been allowed in anyway). We could have dressed up in ghost costumes and I'd have been fine with it.

Three of my DIL's and my daughter were endowed right before their sealing, and we had the appropriate amount of fussing in the Bride's room and again in the sealing room. They all wore their wedding gowns. We never felt like we were rushed or that it was an assembly line approach.

As for the endowment... well, my daughter was prepared. I wasn't in charge of my DIL's, so I have no idea what their preparation was.

Drifting wrote:Is this a guess or an estimate based on actual published numbers or based on an extrapolation of your own personal experience with (I think you said) 40 women that you know?

How many women would you say don't know what they will have to dress up in for their sealing ceremony - a few or many?

We've already been over this, Drifting. I'd encourage you to go back and read the thread.

Here's the information put forth by Toronto: In 2007, 52,686 missionaries served (2007 Statistical Report). 13% were young, single women (Stack, Peggy Fletcher (2007-06-30). "Mission metamorphosis". The Salt Lake Tribune.)

That means 6,849 young single sisters served missions.

If at one point four years ago there were 6,849 single sisters serving missions then its reasonable to say there are about that many today. And probably that many two years ago. That alone would put a number of 20,547. And those would generally be young (as in under 27) ladies. Now that's not to say all 20,000 of these ladies are sealed now or will be sealed. They might not all be sealed. But that's also not to say that this 20,000 includes all the LDS women who have been sealed or will be sealed who have been through the temple and have or had some idea of what the sealing ceremony is. Afterall there were plenty of sister missionaries 10 years ago, and many 15 years ago, and so forth. The numbers only get bigger and biggger. Now, that is only a portion of all women who are sealed in the temple. Who knows how many women who have been sealed who hadn't gone through the temple previous to their marriages who have a good idea what the sealing is, what it means, how its done. I mean this number could, if you think about it, get into the 6 digit range rather quickly.

I mean this whole distraction you guys came up with was cute and was an adorable way to personally attack an LDS person and a whole host of autistic people, but it was clearly distraction. It is clearly an absurdity when one thinks about it anyway, and only points to the low quality of thinking and conversing here...sadly. It mostly clearly supports the notion of hostility towards others by many posters here.

I know you want to blame you religion for the comments directed your way, but everyone sees that's just you being dishonest with yourself. There are other believers here who don't get nearly as much razzing as you get, and there's a reason.

But you don't want to see that. You'd rather whine about it and blame your religion. It's surprising. Oh well. Pep pep and all that.

The others who don't get as much hate and hostility directed are generally not TBM folks. But that goes unnoticed by you. They are generally the more NOM-like people many of who, like Toronto, don't believe at all. I'm surprised you're willing to attempt pull that trick Schmoe. As it is, I'm quite disappointed overall. I'm quite astounded by the amount of hate and anymosity here. Sadly, its far worse than I would have imagined. But, I'm here for you all.

Its disappointing, Harmony. but you will note that the mention of it was the reason for attacking an LDS poster, which amounts to attacking an LDS poster for no reason, and attacking autistic people. And it has encouraged others to chime in with a hearty "yahoo" by other posters.

Its been quite a revealing thread. It truly speaks volumes.

It would help if YOU would confine your comments to the topic of the thread, Stem. Don't go blaming this entire mess on someone else. Nobody forces you to follow the critics' rabbit hole, ya know.

You're full of crap. If you really didn't like it, you'd leave. Quit pretending you're disappointed. Nobody's buying your BS. In fact, that's the main reason you get so much flak. People are tired of your incessant BS.

Stemelbow, to try and help you salvage some last remnant of credibility from the Stembelisms splattered across this thread...

...would you say that more LDS women complete their own personal endowment when they desire to or just in advance of their temple sealing.

It's sounding more and more like you're pissed that nobody is coming to defend your idiotic comments.

Everyone will employ hypocrisy from time to time. Think about it. DJ and Toronto say I'm illiterate because the definition of "many" they are using is different from the one contained in the dictionary. uh...is that hypocritical? Sure.

I'm not pissed so much as astounded. I'm astounded. Its quite surprising, Schmoe, when you like to think positively about humanity in general. You think most people will see through the silliness these two posters employ in order to attack an LDS poster and the autistic. When it doesn't happen and the posters here who hate the LDS religion jump on board cheering the hateful statements made about an LDS poster and the autistic, then I get quite astounded. I did not realize that hate and the fostering of hate, as is common among those on this board, will blind people to that extent. Its surprising, Schmoe.

JM...just stop taking stem seriously...just do it...Consider him some kind of laughable creation of a critic who wants to make LDS defenders look like idiots...Its the only way his whiny, incoherent posts make any sense...

You are totally right, Harmony. But, even you can admit that Toronto and DJ who went after me for saying the word "many" in an appropriate context, is deplorable. I should have just ignored their stupid game. I really should have. but now its just gotten out of control. Toronto is trying to pin deplorable words uttered by DJ to me, somehow, in his strange way of thinking, he and DJ are perfect little saints. What a goof.
