Re: Eld. Holland's thoughts on the Priesthood ban

While in Cameroon dedicating that country for the preaching of the Mormon Gospel, a black missionary (perhaps from Ivory Coast), asked Holland if blacks were "less valiant" in the War in Heaven. Holland replied, "Of course not! If they were less valiant they wouldn't be here!"

Of course, the Church taught for many decades that blacks were "less valiant" in the War in Heaven, and this was called "a doctrine of the Church" in a First Presidency statement issued in August of 1949 titled "Statement of the First Presidency on the Negro Question". You CANNOT GET MORE OFFICIAL than a signed First Presidency letter!

Elder Holland is lying as usual. He tries to say that he is too young to know much about the doctrines taught back before his time, but in fact he taught the Curse of Cain Doctrine for many years at BYU and also as an Institute Director in Seattle. He trying to "pull the wool" here. The Brethren are lying. They have also authorized LDS Church Public Affairs to lie too.

Except he was 37 when blacks were finally given the priesthood, so he was at least an Elder for 18 years during the time these things were being taught. Based on his wiki page, he was a missionary, institute teacher, institute director, bishop, counselor in the stake presidency, Director of the Melchizedek Priesthood MIA, Dean of Religious education at BYU, and commissionaer of the church education system all before 1977. I find it hard to believe that he can't really remember what was taught back then. Also, I like how he refers to previous prophets and apostles as "my earlier colleagues." I'm going to start referring to the old latter-day prophets and apostles as "Jeffrey Holland's previous colleagues."

"I don't know" is a LIE, because Church leaders DO KNOW why blacks were banned, they simply don't want to tell the truth, because that will make them appear like racists, and they don't want that. simple enough.

Cardinal Biggles wrote:"I don't know" is the best and most honest answer that can be given to most critical questions about the history of the church. It's a shame that Mopologists don't follow Holland's lead. Instead, they offer wild speculation in an attempt to obtain plausibility.

I guess that would be boring, though. The entire Mormon Dialogue board would be filled with nothing but "I don't know" replies on every issue.

I don't know why people think that the Priesthood ban for black people was 'folklore'.

One of Elder Holland's earlier colleagues was Brigham Young. He wasn't just a colleague, he was the Prophet of the Church. He was Christ's spokesperson on Earth. The leader of the Church.
And he was very clear about why Blacks shouldn't have the Priesthood.

Brigham Young comments about blacks
"You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind....Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 290).
"In our first settlement in Missouri, it was said by our enemies that we intended to tamper with the slaves, not that we had any idea of the kind, for such a thing never entered our minds. We knew that the children of Ham were to be the "servant of servants," and no power under heaven could hinder it, so long as the Lord would permit them to welter under the curse and those were known to be our religious views concerning them." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p. 172).
"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 10, p. 110).

Well, at least Holland cleared up one thing.

The priesthood ban on blacks was indeed doctrine.

We get this straight from an apostles' mouth.

So, once again we have an example in the LDS church where doctrine does not equate to truth. I personally think it would be helpful if the LDS church came out and clarified this.

The very LAST THING that Mormon leaders intend to EVER do is to "clear up" the Curse of Cain legacy.

For 130 years they were extremely CLEAR In that it was a "doctrine of the Church" that Negroes were the less valiant children of Cain, bore the Mark of Cain, and would not receive the Priesthood until after the Millennium.

Church leaders will remain ETERNALLY SILENT on the issue, but instead will instruct LDS Church Public affairs to continue to say: "The Church never taught it. Some Members may have believed that as personal opinion, but it was never Church doctrine."

Mormon leaders are lying-by-proxy, and will continue to do so until "called on the carpet" and FORCED in some way to come clean. Otherwise, the lies will continue.

I've come to terms that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a church of deception and the leaders therein are liars who have been conditioned to act and perform like circus monkeys. The minds of these men have been fried on religious dope.

I thank my lucky stars that I fully realized the church is a cult -- a religion created and fostered by the arm of flesh. The General Authorities are men of low character in my opinion and should not be trusted in anything they say or do. These men toe the line in effort to carry on the succession and deception all for the cause of the man-made restoration -- an effort to outdo the pope and the Reformation.

Maybe McConkie should have called his book Mormon Folklore.

There are 3 LDS Churches and they are very different in nature and scope as they move in their times and were led by the opinions and ideas of their uninspired leaders:

1. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the 19th Century
2. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the 20th Century
3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the 21sh Century

Today's leaders are uninspired and will be thrown under tomorrow's bus by the up and coming leaders.

Never known this claim to be true.

That's because so many things taught by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints over the years are simply not true -- you know this to be true, bcspace. Knowing what you know now, had you lived in Brigham Young's day under his care, you would have either left the church or been excommunicated because Mormonism would have never accepted the likes of you. You really are an apostate in the makings if not already there and just playing along. I think you're just playing along and are just as much an apostate as I am.
