as far as it is translated correctly.
Real life Mormons believe and teach that the Book of Mormon WAS translated correctly.
Just one of those little differences that you start to notice over time when you compare the theology taught at church with internet version of LDS theology.

LOL - so I guess Joe really humped the pooch on that one.
Isn't this a bit like saying, My story is completely true as far as its elements are factual?
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

"as far as it is translated correctly"
"when a prophet is speaking as a prophet"
"official doctrine"
"scribal error"
"confirmation of the spirit"
Where else besides religion would rational beings accept these conditions as a measure of truth?

"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

The official theology, as taught by the church, is that the Book of Mormon WAS translated correctly and is the most correct book on earth. Internet Mormonism seems like a whole different religion, in that context.

"Yes, your honor. This is the doctor's testimony as far as it is translated correctly..."
...
"Why did you kill your children?"
"I was obeying the confirmation of the spirit."
"I thought murder was against your religion."
"No, that's not official doctrine. The Bible translators made a scribal error."
"So, your prophet never recommended not killing anyone?"
"If he did, he was speaking as a man, not as a prophet."
That would all hold up in court, wouldn't it?

Remind me again, this most correct book that was translated correctly, exactly how many changes have been made...?

I think the number of official changes might pale to the number of unofficial changes that apologists like to insert into the text.

Wow! I like that the Church is fully embracing this now:
