just me wrote:Mattie, welcome to the board. Yes, it is pretty standard for questions like that to be asked of newbies to get an idea of where their posts are coming from.

Again, welcome!

I am a non-believing Mormon, mother and wife.

Are there other believing Mormons here?

(I'll check back for your answer tomorrow.)

Hi Mattie, allow me to introduce myself...

Gramps, would you date a believing Mormon? :)

There are believing Mormons on here but just not as many.

Are you scared this is an "anti-mormon" site?

Believing and non believing Mormons have debates on here.

A few suggestions if I might.

This is not a board where a believing Mormon would go to shore up his/her faith. If you want to post here you need to have pretty thick skin and as a believing member you should expect some very strong challenges to what you believe. The moderation allows people to speak their minds for the most part. Most of us prefer to have the ability to express our opinions and understand that means we allow others to do the same. There are other boards that offer a more sheltered forum for believing LDS members.

If this area of the board is offensive to you but you are still interested in open discussion on LDS issues, we do have a Celestial Forum where personal attacks and "offensive posts" are more heavily moderated. That forum has a lot less going on in it.

As far as believing members go we have some (BC Space, J Green, Droopy, Will (though I am not always sure what exactly Will believes) and others. I do not consider my self a believing member but do still regard the Church organization in a positive light.

Regarding Chris Smith, I'll let you do a little more research about his contributions to LDS discussions, but if one were to judge by behavior and attitude you might think he is LDS (or at least what LDS seem to expect from other LDS people.)

Stak,

This might be Gramps last chance, Darrick is still young.

Why are you so curious about these things? Is this standard procedure? Did I miss the introductory questionnaire?

Are you going to do a credit check too? (Mine is good, as far as I know.)

I did go on a mission.

I do go to church.

I am not married, although I would like to be. Just haven't found Mr. Right yet, I guess.

How much do I know about the church? I don't know. More than some, probably less than others.

I don't know how to describe how "fimiliar" I am with all things you listed. I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not sure why it matters. Again, is this standard procedure around here? It seems weird to me.

You need to get yourself off to the singles ward and follow your leaders counsel that there is no Mr Right. Instead there a lots of single males with whom you can be compatable. Stop being fussy, pick one and start producing offspring without delay.
