So come on, to say that having more role-models of gay marriage as well as depictions on TV of gay characters won't have an effect on people is totally living in denial of the true power of media.
Sure, it'll have an effect. It will encourage already gay individuals living in the closet to "come out". No, it won't make anyone straight into a gay. Experimentation also seems possible, but highly unlikely in one without doubting their tendencies.

And doubting is rare???? True, some that wind up in gay lifestyles will be people on the far end of the sexual orientation spectrum. However, there are people who might fit into a large variation in regards to sexual orientation and society can either inhibit their experimentation or encourage it. So as I was saying, a woman who finds women attractive, and either gets along well with women, or finds it really hard to get along with almost all women, might, if she finds the right woman, become involved in a relationship and wind up bonding with the other women. This bonding can either be psychological or physiological (a woman's body produces oxitocin and other chemicals that cause a feeling of bonding with a sexual partner). So my point is that women somewhere in the bisexual range (which is a very large segment of the female population) might be influenced into trying a relationship with a fellow bi or lesbian woman. That may not be the "recruitment" you mean, but I believe it might be what BC meant.
