Koresh is a much closer analog to JSJr.

Thank you.

You're certainly welcome! I aim to please. :-)

I think that they burned to death with him. But of course, like I said before, when all else fails, give up the name Koresh or Jones or Jeffs. That should tell people something.

I see Koresh and Jones as taking their flock with them. Their egos were too big to allow their own deaths to go it alone. The comparison with Joseph Smith is not there. Also, where are the davidians and the people's temple today?

Gone with the fire and juice.

If there was a revelation would you allow your wife to be sealed to Monson?

If Monson was claiming to have received the revelation, no. If I only "felt" that is what God wanted, no. If God sent an angel to me with a flaming sword, hell no (but I would be on my side, laughing until the 'shroom wore off).

The Davidians and Jones are gone because they tried to do the same thing as Joseph Smith did but in an era of mass communication. How successful do you think Joseph Smith Jr would be now trying to set up a city/state in a democratic country where he appointed himself king, priest ruler, mayor, chief magistrate, chief justice, head of the war department, Lieutenant General, prophet, trustee in trust for all Church finances . . .?

You are correct in one thing. The comparisons between Joseph Smith Jr and Koresh or Jim Jones is not there because he went far beyond the abuses they did and did it to thousands more people.

Just want to point out that the Davidians are, in fact, still around. Not many, and, predictably, they've schismatized, but they're still out there.
