I cried a little inside every time we got in the car to go to church.

Coming home always cheered me up though.

Look out, bcspace - you're on the road to apostasy! Blubbering is a cultural signifier of righteousness and deeply-held commitment to appearing faithful.


Well, I think I can be excused for the tears because the funeral was for my own father. But I've pointed out several times publically in Church that crying may be a result of the fruits of the Spirit but are not necessarily so. A sad story does not necessarily call down the Spirit.

And dang it all! I still haven't been released.

It seems like there was a conference talk in the last decade about crying, that more or less echoed your sentiments. And yet, Eyring still can't get close to a microphone without reflexively blubbering and snotting all over the podium. No dignity whatsoever.
