Derailing to talk about Mods

Shades has backed each and every moderation decision I have made, so if you believe I should be removed, please take it up with him.

It's also funny to me how the chronic offenders are always the ones that have a problem with the mods.

You bring up a great point. You didn’t move AS’ post because it wasn’t a “F” or “S” word (WTF is this middle school stuff anyways? Don’t say any f-wordz!!!1!!)

Someone could have moved A’s post simply for this reason alone:

No blatant or otherwise obvious personal attacks allowed.

How many posts in the Terrestial forum could be moved on that basis alone?

And WTF is this:

Keep all communications "Rated PG" to "Rated PG-13" or better.

Movie ratings are a shining example of inconsistency! This is a wide open guideline to could plausibly move just about any post here.

Regarding blatant and obvious personal attacks, this is an issue I am very confused about. We all see this ALL.THE.TIME here and I never know if something is "report worthy" or not. Frankly, the personal attacks bother me and the "F" and "S" word don't.

So, I would love an outline of what is a personal attack and what is not. To me, calling someone an ass or a douche or a nutjob is a personal attack. Is it not?

Scottie, does Shades "back" up your moderator decisions, or simply allow you as a moderator to do so? I've heard it described both ways. This is fine hair splitting, but it is asked towards gaining an interesting insight into the admin-mod relationship here. That's all.

A little of both.

We discuss issues in the moderator forum quite a bit. Of course, we don't discuss everything. There is just too much housekeeping and ticky-tack moderating.

I probably need to back-track a little bit. There have been times where I have split a thread or some such thing which Shades took exception with. He has chastised me on a few occasions. I learned from it and tried not to make that mistake again.

We don't take suspensions lightly here and they are posted on the Mod forum whenever we suspend someone. Shades has backed each of those for me.

Jersey and Stak are not "chronic offenders." Neither is Aristotle Smith. I have no idea why you'd bring up this observation in a thread about their concerns with moderation.

I know you are being sarcastic, but that's like saying its the repeat criminals who are always the one that have a problem with police 'brutality'. It seems to be intuitive.
