There are those whom I respect and you are among these. I really hope this does not end up with hard feelings between us.

This is my understanding of the evolution of Liz's board.

It was a truly focused tight knit group of friends before the first uncovering with all of the "vultures" mess. I think Liz is a person without malice, worried about others feelings before her own. I believe the membership opened up a bit after this, and likely the purpose of the board evolved a bit more from the friend's aspect into the nom aspect.

Now with this latest uncovering, as well as a few more volatile members that have recently been added, I believe the board has moved even farther away from being able to sustain a balance of friends/nom for its purpose. You like Dan, I don't. You see value in Dan's posting, I see hurtful games. Dan, Nehor, Stem, BCSpace, Ray etc. and the likes of me, and some nom's arrayed on the opposite camp.

It's well beyond the original tight knit group of friends at this point. It seems to me that it will not have much of an option to either define itself and moderate to that, so somehow succeed in being a milder shades board.

One thing is for sure … it will be interesting to see how it evolves from here.

If you didn't start whining about Dan himself, trying your best to play it off as he has some pshychological problems, much of this never would have happened. I'm quite intrigued you've included me as one who has been a problem for that board. I simply called you out for playing games like posters often do here when it comes to responding to LDS.

Tweaking other posters with out-of-context sig lines is hardly an unusual or outrageous phenomenon. And it happens on both sides. DCP himself had a sig line from me in which he lifted a comment of mine totally out of context for a while. Big deal.

I do not approve of Scratch's DCP obsession. But DCP has fed that obsession with his own mirror obsession. He tweaks like Scratch does.

If someone truly feels harasses or stalked by another poster, the only way to stop it is to put that poster on ignore, either figuratively or literally. To make the choice to continue feeding the cycle - for years - means that one has as much responsibility for the unhealthy dynamic as the other. And DCP was using Liz's board as a way to continue his part of the "dance". That wasn't good for the board, and it was inevitable that it was going to cause serious problems one day.

I really hope liz is not letting this get to her. It was an experiment, and it didn't work. There is no need to rake her over the coals for trying. Every poster here knows that this can be a really rough-and-tumble environment, and that doesn't work for everyone. So someone thought of trying a more controlled board to work on eliminating that problem and invited posters she thought it would work with. Big effing deal. Get some perspective.

This thread should be pinned on this board as a perfect example of why this place can be so poisonous.

People whine and complain about DCP on this board all the time. He announced he was leaving some time ago, but people won't let that go. They simply can't stop from whining and complaining about him. He, on another board, calls out Scratch's ridiculous sig line and asks a question about it. Instead of posters there saying, essentially, "I see what you're saying. That wasn't nice of Scratch. Here's the link to the quote he's used:" The whole affair would have ended there. Even if Scratch got his hands on the quotes at the cafeteria there would not be some attack thread on DCP here...well that's not true, but we can dream. Now we have tons of posts attacking DCP at a place he has sworn off, and this under the guise of DCP asking a question and calling out an initial attack proferred by Scratch.

I see there are the fence sitters in this saying how unfortunate this all is, but man, this place is poisonous. Many of you have it all backwards and you feel justified in holding a backwards view because you think you know the history. Drop it already. Can't any of you let things go?

my goodness. let it go. DCP doesn't even post here. Can't anyone just move on.

I agree that Liz is the big loser in this. I had high hopes for her board. I truly was hoping it was a place other than here. Oh well. I only now hope she feels well and has a happy life.

Gee. DCP's posting about Scratch on liz's board was the trigger for this particular meltdown, but if we refer to DCP's posting we can't Just Move On?

Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense.

This board has its issues, no doubt. If I were running things, I'd be more willing to ban people than Shades is. But this isn't my board, and I have no desire to run things. What liz's board taught me is that the problem really isn't in any one given board and how it is run. The problem is that we are discussing a very emotionally charged issue. The problems on this board will be seen, with some variations, on any board that allows discussion between LDS and exLDS. So we have to pick and choose, and ignore the rest. It's the nature of the beast.

Obviously, you aren't even seeing that if it weren't for Scratch's sig line DCP wouldn't have requested to know about the source of the quote nor would he have felt obligated to contradict what he saw as public slander. No one had to whine about DCP there, or try and paint him as some bad guy or some dude suffering for mental illness for trying to clear his own name. Yet, that didn't happen--posters there actually went there. Of course there were players there ready to go after DCP. But yes, seeing as he doesn't post here and isn't going to respond to your effort to paint his participation in all of this as THE problem, then its apparent you aren't just letting it go.

Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense.

This whole thread doesn't make much sense unless you realize people just plain have venomous hate directed at DCP.

Indeed on the "emotionally charged issue". One of the problems is people tend to forget that very easily in their comments.

Yes, if we all would just appease Dan's big, sloppy ego and never question him, all would be well in Whoville.

indeed, if you guys would stop going after him for every little thing, this would be a much more useful place. whimpering about his ego when there are plenty of large egos here, including your own, is not doing yourself or anyone any favors. Its clearly not the questioning him that's the problem. He's not even here to respond to the questioning of him, bonehead. The problem is going after him, attempting to paint him as something he is not. Ah well. You guys...

Look girls you don't get to call the shots and tell others who has the last word. You shut up, and so will others.

Alright, people, since Jason won't do it, I've been assigned as your temporary Common Judge in Israel.

Everybody Wang Chung - Don't say stupid crap about people's kids, even in PM's, especially to crazy people, even if those crazy people said some pretty mean crap to you. I know the tempation - it's a lot like self-abuse; it feels great while you are doing it, but the guilt will kill you and the pictures will follow you around for life. I love you like a gay brother.

Liz - every PM is sacred, every PM is great, if a PM is revealed, the board (and God) gets quite irate. PMs are like other peoples genitals; they must be handled with great care, with permission, and some of them smell bad. But, like genitals, most people don't want us talking about them and people get to control who they show their genitals to. Now, enough with the sexy metaphors. Liz, I don't know what ails you, but please get better soon. If this stuff is causing you to be sick, please take break. I love you like a hot step-sister.

Jersey Girl - I know you think you are helping, but right now, you are oxygen for this fire. Cut off the oxygen and the fire will burn out. You are fierce friend, Jersey Girl, so do it for Liz's health. I love you like a mom who spanks her son who likes spankings.

Ceeboo - We are all scared. I love you like a great and abominable church, except even more.

Dr. Scratch - Don't ever back down from a bully. I love you like I love mild barley drinks.

Sock Puppet - Fight the good fight, sock. I love you like a man loves another man.

Blixa - you always make the most sense. I love you like I love a hot Relief Society President.

Mr. Stakhanovite - you are lost to outer darkness. Goodbye, my son of perdition. I love you like I love strong drink.

Dan Peterson - You coward! Look what you did! I'm referring this matter to the stake president. I weep for you. No I don't. I love you like a punch loves a face.

Now allow me to read a message from the First Presidency, from the pulpit:

Dear People of Zion,

Private message boards don't work. Moderated message boards don't work. Open message boards do not work. We swear to great Jehovah that you will all be excommunicated, so help us God, if you keep up this message boarding. The only thing that works is I Am A Mormon. Go there now. Oh, and Daniel Peterson is a coward.

Thank you all,

Bishop H.
