For internet message boards, dog piling is used to describe when several posters of similar viewpoint respond to the same post espousing a differing viewpoint.

Here, marg has suggested that stem has been dog piled on here. So? He knows there are many non-believers here. He takes a cheap shot, and numerous non-believers post their responses?

Hey I'm not going to spend much of my time here today. I don't view dog-piling as you do. To me it's when a poster has a disagreement with another poster or their views ..expresses it and then a group of other posters pile on by either goading or personal attacks...without any sincere honest interest in topic other than the person being attacked.

It's not like this is a coordinated effort, as the defenders do with their L-skinny list.

It doesn't have to be a coordinated effort. Dogs in a pack don't pre-plan and co-ordinate before attacking.

I have not been asked by any other non-believer to make a post or a response to any other poster. I have not asked any other non-believer to make a post or a response to any other poster.

But when you set up a thread for the sole purpose of attacking someone and you know you have support or will get it, based upon previous posting behaviors on the board ...you are signaling/encouraging others to attack.

So if I am to act in response to being chastised for participating in a "dog pile", my only alternative was to not respond to a post because others (perhaps like-minded) are already responding.

You initiated a thread attack. And yes if someone has a disagreement with Stem, they've expressed ..why the necessity for you to make your own personal attack..adding on to the initial attack? We aren't talking here about a difference of opinion on a topic..we are talking about a personal attack.

I don't think any reader/registrant here that reads a post to which he or she wants to reply should be hesitant just because others have already responded with their points of view.

Nothing wrong with different points of view in which someone/someones are sincere in trying to reason with someone. I'd like to see someone/someone discuss with Stem ..the topic of Book of Mormon historicity and do so without personal attack. But given the behaviors I've seen on this board, it's not likely to happen.

So, that being said, let the dog pile on this post, this thread, and me for saying these things begin.
