Praise to the man indeed.

what exactly does an eternal servant do? Are there dirty bathrooms and windows to be cleaned in the celestial kingdom?
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

Well, we know what he did with his pretty young servants when he was alive.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Yes. I believe you can find it on the black LDS website.

She petitioned BY to be sealed to Joseph Smith as his adopted daughter while in Utah. She was denied and then they eventually decided to create a special ordinance where a proxy stood in for her and she was sealed to Joseph Smith as his servant.

She also asked for a marital sealing for herself. She asked to be sealed to one of the few black men who had been a priesthood holder before the ban was enforced, If I recall correctly.

So it wasn't Joseph who offered to adopt her?

And it's good to see that god moves along at the pace of mankind. Heaven forbid he should lead... at all.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Actually, apparently God always trails about 20 years behind. Just like Utah fashion.

I'm not saying God has race problems, at all.

When I lived in Utah I used to wear a shirt that said:

"Welcome to Utah, please set your clock back twenty years."

That one would get some laughs, while my "Welcome to Utah, Land of the Funny Underwear" would get cold stares.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Yes it was. She declined while he was alive because she didn't understand what it meant. After his death she reconsidered and decided she would like to be sealed to him. She had to petition Brigham Young to make it happen.
