James E. Talmage: false prophet
http://institute.LDS.org/manuals/old-te ... -2kg-D.asp
“The ten tribes shall come; they are not lost unto the Lord; they shall be brought forth as hath been predicted; and I say unto you there are those now living—aye, some here present—who shall live to read the records of the Lost Tribes of Israel, which shall be made one with the record of the Jews, or the Holy Bible, and the record of the Nephites, or the Book of Mormon, even as the Lord hath predicted” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1916, p. 76)
Oops! There's a reason why general authorities have stopped making falsifiable prophecies like this. They don't come true.

That was October 1916. CFR that everyone in the meeting has since died.

There might have been an infant in the crowd who was born in 1915 and is only 96 years old.

Within this person's remaining lifetime:
1) the ten tribes will dramatically be rediscovered
2) their scriptures brought forth and translated
3) all of this getting through correlation
4) and then this person will still be spry enough to read the record
I think not.

I say unto you there are those now living—aye, some here present—who shall live to read the records of the Lost Tribes of Israe
AS an apologist, I would say:
It all depends on how we define "those now living" and "some here present." Prophets of old have often used these terms to specify people who will be born at a later date, and people who are not present. Also the phrase "shall live to read the records" could also mean shall read the records in the next life. Too often we make the mistake of taking words at their literal meaning rather than seeking out their true spiritual meaning.
"We have taken up arms in defense of our liberty, our property, our wives, and our children; we are determined to preserve them, or die."

It's possible the Singularity will arrive in this person's lifetime, and the person will be able to meld with a robotic form and live forever, thereby making it possible for the prophecy to come to pass. I'm doing my best here to perform the mental contortions required to be a mopologist.
Maybe one of the Three Nephites was in attendance that day.

You guys are Bush league wanna-be apologists. I asked some real apologists (the posters on MDD) and I was told that this prophecy most likely has already been fulfilled and we just aren't cognizant of it. Specifically, the records of the lost tribes have been discovered and have been united with the other scriptures at Church headquarters, but haven't been released to the world. If you read Talmages prophecy closely you will see that there is no requirement that the lost records are PUBLICLY made one with the other scriptures.

Maybe some MST authors come from the lineage of the lost tribes? Their "scripture" has come forth to us via a "translation". By translation, I refer to the browser's rendering of HTML on Dan's website.
