Sorry that explanation of official doctrine is merely opinion you are, however, welcome to point me to an official doctrine declaring what official doctrine is.
Haven't you heard? BC Space has been given the calling of official doctrine declarer on the Internet. I believe he was even set apart by the brethren.
"We have taken up arms in defense of our liberty, our property, our wives, and our children; we are determined to preserve them, or die." - Captain Moroni - 'Address to the Inhabitants of Canada' 1775
Quite a few TBM's don't have this illusion that there is such a thing as official doctrine. You only start finding this official doctrine nonsense when people start learning about the church's past teachings and actions and start getting into fair or other apologia.
Official is just an added unnecessary word used to avoid doctrines one is now ashamed that church has had in the past. There is just doctrine, which the what a religions rituals and teachings. Why keep directing people to an article that cannot meet the requirements it asks.

You're right about that. I frequent a Catholic discussion board and there are 4 or 5 TBMs that contend over there. They always use the "official" doctrine argument when trying to contort a point. When I bring up the official doctrine angle they just ignore me and contort some more.
Brigham Young stripped himself naked and had sex with many many different women while the church supported them. They ate grapes and committing unnatural sex practices (anti-Spencer W. Kimball) on many a bed -- including oral sex because Brigham insisted. Brigham shouted for joy as he planted seeds in order to make his garden grow.
It's not official yet, but I predict that bcspace will have to give his wife over to Joseph Smith Jr., because Joseph will so order it. Sorry bcspace -- you'll be left holding Rosy Palm (the bag).
Actually, you know what is official? That the God of the LDS church is the Egyptian fertility god Min, he of the gigantic permanent erection. The "Official doctrine" gambit is a double edged sword.

Indeed, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints unknowingly bought the Egyptian penis and might as well substitute Moroni's brass horn for the fleshy member of a man's thigh. Everytime I look at the Facsimiles (dare to even read the silly man-made Explanations) I think of men having sex with men.
How about: Kerry Shirts and the naked Facsimile in the hand of Tommy-boy Monson? Oh, that sounds romantic. I wonder how many times Brigham Young had sex? Do you suppose he had sex with more than one woman in a single day? Maybe three?
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially revealed though the Book of Abraham Facsimile No. 2 that God the Father has a very large penis for everyone to see!

Wow, God loves to flash his stuff!

Apparently I have been created in the image of Elohim/god the father...At least the LDS church got something right.

I think Joseph Smith appropriately pointed out that by their fruits you shall know them. There are more in the Church everyday. That's biology so deal with it.
by the way, this would equally apply to nuts as well, right?
