Spend a bit of time reading what you can find on this and perhaps show that you understand some of the issues involved, then I think you might get a bit more serious attention paid to your comments. When you start out admitting that you are uninformed on the subject no one, here at least, will take the rest of what you say seriously.

That's all it takes?

As I understand it, Schryver's article has never been published. But this other guy can just come along and say he's wrong?

Good point. It seems this announcement now casts William Schryver as the "last best hope" then cuts the legs off of hope. Dr. Peterson will come up with something.

Dr. Peterson can't save the Book of Abraham and he knows it. He's collecting a pay check, for God's sake. Everyone has to make a living, including him. He's a fine school teacher. Isn't that right, Dr.?

You should have stopped with this. In fact, you should just copy it to your clipboard and when you feel the urge to post, you can just hit the paste button.

I'll have to quote one of the greatest LDS scholars to ever live:

Hugh W. Nibley: Nibley on the Timely and the Timeless, 22 wrote:Nothing is settled yet, not only because the last precincts are never heard from in science—and their report always comes as a shocker—but because we are far from getting the last word in religion either. For us the story remains open-ended—at both ends—in a progression of beginnings and endings without beginning or end, each episode proceeding from what goes before and leading to the next.

Simon, that was one of the most bizarre quotes I have ever read. Not only is it completely nonsensical, it literally sounds like it came from a mind tripping on LSD. "Open ended- at both ends", really? Wow!

I think it just means that science is an ongoing thing, it's always progressing and we with it. There are no "final" words in science, because there is always something more to discover. It also equates that idea with religion: we don't know everything about faith, about God, or about the afterlife. We learn it little by little.

So, basically, there is never a "final word."

I think he got that from a blurb on a porno cover.

WHAT IS THE KING'S NAME IN FACSIMILE NO. 3? JOSEPH SMITH SAID THERE WAS A KING'S NAME WRITTEN THEREIN. USE THE POWER OF SCIENCE AND TELL ME THE NAME, SIMON. I CHALLENGE Jesus Christ HIMSELF TO COME UP WITH A NAME, LET ALONE YOU. YOU AND Jesus WILL NEVER COME UP WITH A NAME BECAUSE THERE IS NONE. SCIENCE CANNOT HELP YOU. Mormonism IS DEAD ON ARRIVAL.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will one day perform gay marriages.

Don't tell me that this will "never" happen, Simon. Never say never, boy.
