Top Ten Worst Things Mopologists have done

Post by _Yoda »

In the spirit of Scratch's request to Simon on the "I'm A Woman" thread, I thought I would start this one.

Everyone can add on. I am not sure, as I am writing this, that I can come up with 10:

1. Will Schryver broke a trust and confidence with his fellow colleagues at FAIR, and revealed Trevor's full in real life name on a message board.

2. Pahoran's repeated ugly comments at critics and fellow Mormons alike who have disagreed with him in various message board debates.

3. Juliaan's repeated ugly comments at critics and fellow Mormons alike who have disagreed with her in various message board debates.

4. Bob Crockett's repeated ugly comments at critics and fellow Mormons alike who have disagreed with him in various message board debates.

5. Will Schryver's treatment of women on the MDB board.

6. Will Schryver's denigration of fellow apologists who were sincerely trying to extend an olive branch to critics and apologists alike, such as David B.

7. The Mr. Itchy scandal.

8. Dan G using slimy computer tactics to break into PM's on the FAIR/MAD board.

That's enough to get us started, anyway.

9. Dan Peterson's adamant December 2009 insistence that he'd held in his hands and seen with his eyes, as had 6 other MIer's he named, the 2nd, retraction letter signed by Watson (which was not)

1. The history of ad hom attacks against critics in general. This has a long, illustrious history in Mormonism, beginning with Joseph Smith. (example: Martha Brotherton, whore)

2. The willingness to use language that can be misleading to believers who are not as thoroughly educated in some topics as they are. (example: FAIR DVD on Book of Mormon in which an apologist asserted, without qualifications, that the Nephites "would have found horses" in the New World.)
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Didn't one of the mods on MAD show Dr Shades' in real life information, and keep it visible in spite of repeated requests to remove it due to the possibility that Dr Shades' family could be in physical danger as a result?

The demonization of dissenters has a long and fascinating history, indeed.

1. supporting and harboring Will

2. supporting and harboring Pahoran

3. leading members away from the truth, instead of towards it.

4. supporting the appearance of evil.

5. assuming and/or allowing others to assume they have a position of authority that none of them hold

6. ridiculing the lost sheep instead of following the savior

7. being the problem instead of the solution
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Good morning, harmony.

From my view, this is not only accurate but it is the one that would be near the top of any list I might submit.

Gossip.

Mormon apologists are some of the worst gossips I've ever observed.

(Now you guys can talk about that on the e-list.)
