I have seen church leaders and members get emotional and weepy in front of strangers. Missionaries do it all the time. That you can't imagine this shows once again you really don't have much experience with Mormonism.

My home teacher is in the bishopric. He wouldn't cry to save his life, especially over someone's home who doesn't want to be bothered anymore. And I certainly have never had teary bishops visit me at all. In fact, no bishop ever visited me. So how should I make of it all? I also have a great branch president friend and no tears from him either. In fact he has talked about the inactives with me without tears in his eyes.

Well, I don't know. A guy like me should have had at least one or two bishops come visit with me with teary eyes but no such luck. I also go by my own experiences. And lets face it runtu I am the kind of guy who at least dhould have gotten some tears from a bishop. But...nope.

It clearly was her decision, and I'm sure she understood the likely consequences. Navigating a middle ground of any kind is tough when you're talking about the LDS church.

If I were quark, I would be royally pissed at the wife. What was she thinking? And quark blames the bishopric? I don't get it. If one wants to stay hidden, it is possible. And how did the LDS church know where the quarks were? Someone tipped them off as to the correct ward.

I use to be great at getting people's contact information when I was the ward clerk. I would call family members and friends of the person. Look them up on Facebook and send them a message. I felt like a professional stalker but god wanted that information so I did it.

Here is my take: the wife knows that Mormons are good people. She also would like some contact with the relief society and with the sisters and why not? Now quark with his beer does not want any contact. So, he comes home and sees a lexus and automatically concludes that it must be the bishop as if all bishops have some dough. He walks in a little shocked, has a few words, and the guys leave. I think that the wife had a different experience than what quark is letting on to. She probably thought it sweet that they visited. She also let them in.

I'm sure quark is hiding his wife's response from us because we certainly wouldn't want anyone to think positively of the bishop.

Why is it that you always ascribe the worst motivations to others (well, as long as they are ex-Mormons)? I don't get it. Why are you so hostile to people who believe differently from you?

Ours is not to wonder why Mormon men blubber. Ours is to pick them last for dodge-ball.
