I think most people do, including me. We tend to forget that on the other side of the conversation is a real person. I know I've said some terrible things, mean things, online. I think I've grown up a lot since then, but we all do it.

Those of us who have actually been involved in Mormonism know exactly what you are talking about. Male leaders in the church carry their emotions on their sleeve. Personally, I think it's an act that they perfected on their mission and it just carries over into leadership positions. Crying in front of others is a Mormon cliché. Why me seems to be the only person confused by this.

Just wondering. Are you planning to follow me around, that is respond to me with something like the above, on nearly every thread I post on?
I am following your lead. You have a crusade against whining, I have decide to call you out on any flip flopping or hypocrisy. Just like your motive on whining, I believe it will make the board a better place if it's eradicated.
As for wether it's on every thread, I guess that's really up to you. I will be as conscientious with my board cause as you are with yours. that's only fair surely?
Also, if you avoid flip flopping and hypocrisy I guess there won't be any need for me to call you on it.

It truly would be nice to talk to someone that only wants to listen but lo, this is not the Mormon way! Mormon priesthood leadership does not want to hear about our experiences or our feelings about God. They don't give a s*** about that. They want to fix us because our Lee-A-Hona's are broken.

"You went on a mission speaking ____ language?" "Yes." "You were married in the ____ temple?" "Yes." etc...
Total strangers sharing intimate information and crying in front of each other is simply wrong.
Now we are getting into a meeting with this guy who wants to know why we left so soon after baptizing a child and after living a life of full membership and after paying gobs of money to the system. He wants to know why. OK, he really doesn't want to know. He wants to fix us. Right.
I guess it's finally time to face the system and be straight up.
"Dude, I know you really don't want to listen to my story. You really don't give a s*** that I have found peace and a way that works for me. You don't care that I have found meaning in my life and a way to raise my children and be the best I can. You don't care. You want me to be a person that validates your belief and pumps your ego. Let it go, man. Let us go."

Looks like the next step will be extending you both a calling, and forcing you to make a decision.
Hope it all goes well. Good luck!

I wish you the best of luck! You can tell that bishop that Buffalo says he's an undignified blubberer and he needs to man the “F” up.

I think gramps is calling it right. I would add that they will try to go after your wife first as a soft target. A primary calling or something that she will find hard to turn down. I could be wrong, obviously.
