I love that one also, though it's probably not the best example of music that is "Mormon." It was at one time included in a Mormon hymnal, but does not appear in the current one... possibly because of ideas in the lyrics that don't really jive with modern Mormonism.

I think that my favorite performance of the piece was one done at BYU: http://youtu.be/mUhU0HgTq94

Thanks for posting that Mr. Bigs. I needed to hear something like that. Thanks.

I have always liked it as well, and I always enjoyed many of the social aspects of the church.

Youth Activities

From Boy Scouts, to Young Adult dances the Mormon church does a phenomenal job of focusing on their children. I have incredible memories growing up, and being engaged in a pretty healthy manner. Also, our Ward basketball team kicked ass.

Dinner rolls. Active Mormon women make the best dinner rolls I've ever had.

The three degrees of glory and the concept of eternal progression.

Not that I believe it's true, mind you. It's just a far superior concept to the traditional christian hell of eternal torment and burning.

Relief Society Bazaars

24th of July decorate your trike as a covered wagon neighborhood parades. In other words, the covered wagon as iconic symbol, not the handcart.

Serious traditional quilt making

Dutch oven cooking (the real Mormon cuisine)

The mummies on Temple Square

The original Eagle Gate

As god is man may become, as man is god once was.

All the stuff that is now gone...
