Holiday Gripes

Post by _Jersey Girl »

Hey,

I'm just gonna start a little list here and should anyone feel moved to add on, just go for it, okay?

1. I've been waiting for Bath and Body Works to put their 2 for 20$ sale on for weeks and just found out they did it for Black Friday. Like I'm gonna fight the "Maul" crowds for some candles!

2. I am spending at least one day (this one) of my so-called Thanksgiving "break" shoving junk around a spare bedroom to make it look like human beings actually might inhabit it.

3. The disappearing ink on the holiday towels I was planning to stitch at some point this weekend has disappeared. (I'm not even close to joking)

4. Family members who braved Black Friday picked up a new DVD player for me (for the spare bedroom wherein I am shoving junk around to make it inhabitable) at Target. Then, Jersey Boy tells me he has never used the one that is housed under another TV. This lack of communication needs to stop!

Continuing on...

5. The white curtains with the cute little swirls on them that I bought for the spare bedroom (wherein I am shoving junk around to make it appear inhabitable) and put in the dryer to avoid ironing out the creases just came out all puckered up! There IS no such thing as justice!!!

6. I have to do all the heavy lugging around here. I'm about to lug a heavy loveseat sleeper to the other side of the room. Just wait 'til I move the Queen bed in. No guts, no glory!

For the nice poster who commented favorably on this thread. This is my idea of a motivational thread. Go figure!

Still staring at the heavy loveseat sleeper.

I've put on Motown for inspiration.

I ain't lyin'

This thread almost makes me glad that I'm poor.

I have no idea what part of my posts made you say that.

Care to explain?

I am at the depressing stage...the downhill slope that comes just before the upturn.

7. Lack of motivation. Now that I've hauled out the junk from the proposed spare room that is now half inhabitable, I am looking at 6 little piles of random junk to sort through and keep/discard/donate. Actually, the are behind me while I sit at the computer trying to pretend that they don't exist. ;-)

8. Aches and Pains. That loveseat was a real mother to move and yet, I managed to shove the thing to the otherside of the room and then (as if that weren't enough shoving) I managed to also shove in a Queen sized box and mattress. This while listening to Motown and swearing profusely!

Score so far (I have to do this so I can see that I've made some kind of progress):

1. Clean windows, vacuum.
2. Take down curtains and replace with new ones with cute little swirls and wrinkles.
3. Take out random junk.
4. Lug one heavy loveseat sleeper to the other side of the room.
5. Drag, push, shove one small dresser across the room.
6. Shove (literally) in Queen mattress and box spring.
7. Put back in some of the random junk (in organizers) that I actually use.
8. Unleash IKEA on the room! (Duvet cover, comforter, swishy white thing)
9. Slipcover throw on loveseat sleeper.
10. Consumed 1 IKEA chocolate candy bar. (Shut up, okay?)

(This thread is turning into my own little run-on sticky note)

I'm still bothered and puzzled by the remarks of Dr. Shades to the effect that this thread makes him almost glad that he is poor.

What on earth?

I'm looking in my posts for some indication of great wealth. I ain't seein' it.

So, let's look at the things I mentioned.

1. Spare room
2. No candles from B&Brad Wilcox
3. DVD player (What? Like he doesn't have a DVD player?)
4. New white curtains (they're from stinking Wal Mart!)
5. Loveseat sleeper (we got it second hand)
6. Queen box/mat (these are old ones)
7. Slipcover (also from stinking Wal Mart!)
8. IKEA duvet/comforter (60 bucks total)
9. White swishy thing (20 bucks)
10. Candy bar ($1 at IKEA)
11. Hand towels to stitch (yeah, so what?)
12. Motown (This happened to be the Temptations movie. It's not like I dug them up and had them peform while I shoved crap around!)

I am trying to make a guest room (sewing room) out of a bunch of old crap that I have with a few new add on's to spruce up the room.

What the hell, Shades?

If I had money coming out my eyeballs, I'd have painters working in there, a new carpet installed and all new furniture!

Shut up.

Well, Shades, let's see what Little Miss Moneybags has been up to this afternoon, shall we?

I destroyed an entire arm chair.

Yes and it was intentional! I had this old, old, old, old, second-hand-when-we-got-it arm chair in the loft that needed to get OUT. As I indicated previously, I have to do all the heavy lugging around here and so, I have not had anyone to help me move it out. (Cue up the violins)

So, I took a pair of sharp scissors, cut off the cover, yanked out the stuffing, flipped it over and unscrewed the metal swivel thing from the bottom. I stuffed all the stuffing into two trash bags and then, Little Miss Moneybags (who if she really was, would have hired someone to do this) dragged the still heavy chair down two flights of stairs, down the hall and out the front door where it will sit on the deck until tomorrow when I take a saw to it, hack it apart into tiny pieces and stuff the whole darn thing into a trash can.

I ain't lyin'.

And now I'm on the 2nd IKEA chocolate bar that costs $1.00 and I ain't apologizing for it!

So Nyah!

:-P
