What's so difficult to understand about Mormonism?
I am one of numerous apostates that frequent MDB that was BIC, raised actively in the Church, graduated seminary, obtained degrees at BYU (doing the requisite 16 credits of religion--28 in my case), went on a mission.
Now, all of a sudden because I've apostatized, I am told here by TBMs that I never understood the Mormon Church and its teachings. (Even though quite a few need more of a Know Your Religion training vis-a-vis the knowledge of Mormon history and teaching that I yet retain.)
Isn't that an indictment against all of those Sunday School, Primary, MIA, priesthood, Mission Home, etc. programs, with correlated materials towards the last 15 years, being completely ineffective?
How about that daily reading of the scriptures? Totally ineffective then, wasn't it?
Watching all those old geezers pontificating at probably 30 GCs once I was old enough to listen intently. So that would be almost 300 hours of it! Completely ineffective, right?
What a waste of Mission Home and two years of my life if from the materials I supplied and spoon fed to me, I had no idea what Mormon teachings are. What an utter failure by God's prophets writing those scriptures, COB in designing its failure programs, and the correlation committee with what must be utterly useless teaching materials.
When I stopped believing, did God force another veil of forgetfulness over my mind, distorting my memory and understanding of Mormon teachings--and doing it in the same way with each and every other apostate that posts here at MDB?
I don't recall a thread devoted to this topic, so I am starting one.

The reason Mormon defenders so often trot out the "you don't understand Mormonism" trope is that they're unfamiliar with the topic being discussed, assume it's all anti-Mormon lies, and therefore conclude that "you don't understand Mormonism."

Remember the time people complained because they had seen an 'anti-Mormon' on TV, retailing the evil, distorted 'Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon using a rock in a hat' story?
Behold! It was even Daniel C. Peterson ...

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

I guess there is no chance it's on You Tube or something? Love to see it.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

A classic video. I could enjoy watching on an endless loop for at least 5 viewings in a row.

Really? As for me, I prefer not to waste my time listening to anti-Mormon garbage like that.
:D

It's funny knowing how much it differs from the correlated version from COB on how the translation took place. A real knee-slapper, if you ask me.

Thanks to both you and Buffalo! I'm going there now.
