Good points emilysmith, I see it now, we all do eugenics. Thanks for clearing that up.

Everyone wants to produce good babies "of a high type."
So, we behave accordingly. It is very simple.
Except that what makes people better is not all genetics. It has a lot to do with culture, as well.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Missing the point about eugenics. The problem with eugenics is when we force or coerce "undesirables" not to reproduce. At the base, this is often just a manifestation of racism.
If you want the best for your children, more power to you. If you want to interfere with someone else's reproductive choices then you have a problem.

Here we go again. You think I don't know this?
And all the articles, the comments here, and everyone who knows about it condemns it, right?
Have you seen ONE person PRAISE the idea of eugenics publicly?
What would happen if someone did?
Case closed.

Yes- of course I think that. That is exactly what I said isn't it?
You don't need a joke-
Figure out the rest for yourself. PM me for the punchline.

I interfere with people's reproductive choices all of the time by denying them sex with me. Do you believe it is not so?

Ohhh, now, I wouldn’t say that. I feel pretty comfortable talking about what you believe.
Oh good. So you are admitting that you totally misunderstood me when you started the thread.
Thank you.

Gee, my bad. I should have said "consenting adults' reproductive choices." You're not consenting, but I don't consider that interference. If you were forced to comply with their choices, that would be denying you your reproductive choices.

Don't know why I am still talking about it but...
There is nothing wrong with aiming for a healthy society. If people had the choice (and it may not be all that far off) to choose zygotes with a superior set of immunities or physical attributes, then many people would opt for the superior zygotes. Already, we do screenings of different types and have identified many problematic genes. Combine that with epigenetics and eugenics has taken a whole new turn.
I mention all this because it is outright silly (I agree with mfbukowski *for once*) to bring up eugenics in virtually any debate.
The association is tainted. Like "bacteria" even though the vast majority of bacteria are harmless, many are beneficial, and only a tiny handful are problematic.
Eugenics is the "applied science or the bio-social movement which advocates the use of practices aimed at improving the genetic composition of a population"

If you don't think brothers and sisters should produce children together, you are a eugenicist to some degree. Maybe that will finally make my point.
