I suppose this is the simplest answer I can give:

1 Corinthians 13.

It seems to be boiling down to every human being evil and incapable of doing good.

What if I don't believe in the Book of Mormon, yet I still have charity?

That's Mormonism in a nutshell. Now get to repenting, don't question, and pay your 10%.

Is that what you read from 1 Corinthians 13?

Can you elaborate?

by the way, I think you're one of the more reasonable posters here. Spurven is beyond redemption :)

You're screwed. You don't have REAL charity!

You don't have to believe in the Book of Mormon to have charity, and believing in the Book of Mormon doesn't always result in charity in readers. You can read but yet not heed. Just look at the number of readers but "non-heeders" in the Book of Mormon itself.

If you have real charity, then all will be well with you, whether or not you believe the Book of Mormon.

God does not operate a canning factory, and Jesus taught that the first shall, in many cases, be last. It all depends on what's in your heart. That is what God will judge, not how many times you read the Book of Mormon, or any scripture.

Excellent post Ray, I must agree. I have to point out though, it sounds a little anti-Mormon. I think that a good Mormon would say something to the effect of, "If you had charity, you would believe in the Book of Mormon".

If Satan felt that testifying of Christ to someone would get them to trust him and that would lead to him hooking them on other things and destroying their soul, would he do it?*

I recall being taught when I was a kid that Satan would tell 99 truths if it allowed him to slip in one lie.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Is that some sort of rule that Satan must abide by???

It must be. I always figured Satan could not mention the name Jesus Christ unless you put "Super Star" after it.

But seriously, why didn't I ever lust after women while I was in the temple in my early 20's? Maybe it's because lusting after women was Satanic and Satan didn't enter the temple because he was afraid of Jesus? Now, I'm left wondering why it was Satanic to lust after women because honestly, I was just thinking about the curves mostly. Sigh, I loved those curves. Now that I've been married for a while, I know that the lust of my college days simply provided a way for me to find a woman to hold on to for the rest of my life, which seems pretty noble after it's all said and done.

So, maybe Satan wrote the book after all.
