Hades wrote:Excellent post Ray, I must agree. I have to point out though, it sounds a little anti-Mormon. I think that a good Mormon would say something to the effect of, "If you had charity, you would believe in the Book of Mormon".

I'm not "pro-Mormon" (or anti-Mormon), I'm "pro-human". I believe in the basic goodness of people, and I learned that, well, partly, from the Book of Mormon:

32 And again, the Lord God hath commanded that men should not murder; that they should not lie; that they should not steal; that they should not take the name of the Lord their God in vain; that they should not envy; that they should not have malice; that they should not contend one with another; that they should not commit whoredoms; and that they should do none of these things; for whoso doeth them shall perish.

33 For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.(2 Ne. 26)

"All are alike unto God."

it seems to me that the Book of Mormon does the same thing Jesus does - comprehensively condemn pride, self-righteousness, and a feeling of "being special". It rails, specifically, against "religious pride".

32 Behold, can you suppose that the Lord will spare you and come out in judgment against the Lamanites, when it is the tradition of their fathers that has caused their hatred, yea, and it has been redoubled by those who have dissented from us, while your iniquity is for the cause of your love of glory and the vain things of the world? (Alma 60).

6 And now, this commandment they observe to keep; wherefore, because of this observance, in keeping this commandment, the Lord God will not destroy them, but will be merciful unto them; and one day they shall become a blessed people.
7 Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children; and their unbelief and their hatred towards you is because of the iniquity of their fathers; wherefore, how much better are you than they, in the sight of your great Creator?
8 O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God.
9 Wherefore, a commandment I give unto you, which is the word of God, that ye revile no more against them because of the darkness of their skins; neither shall ye revile against them because of their filthiness; but ye shall remember your own filthiness, and remember that their filthiness came because of their fathers.
10 Wherefore, ye shall remember your children, how that ye have grieved their hearts because of the example that ye have set before them; and also, remember that ye may, because of your filthiness, bring your children unto destruction, and their sins be heaped upon your heads at the last day.(Jacob 3)

I don't like this board. I don't like "Dr. Shades", and I consider this board evil.

I have my reasons.

Mark 5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

Oh look a legion of devils testifying that Jesus is the son of God. Looks like your thesis is invalidated.

Further evidence of the spiritual dumbing-down of Mormon Discussions. I'm sure Shades is real proud of what he created. Once-informed Mormons who now need a crash course in Mormonism For Dummies. At least try to get your selective factoids straight.

Or, maybe Steelhead was never a Mormon.

Actually, I am pointing out that your scripture reference is taking a very simplistic view of things.

The Book of Mormon tends to have a number of these. I think this is a good example of God not being apart of it. I can't think of any examples of an evil man doing no good. It really is a immature way of thinking about good and evil. Life does not really contain these kinds of absolutes.

Nor does the Book of Mormon.

Is that some sort of rule that Satan must abide by???
This goes to show that even Satan should consult and attorney.

Or he is an attorney himself...

by the way
- can be the satan a "she"?
- isn't the uppercase "S" and the missing definite article a sign of honor? For me, the satan is not worth to honor (and doesn't exist but it is off topic here)

Sometimes I read similar things and I think there are certain stupidities can not be exceeded.

And I always err.

With talk like that you're going to get yourself banned or your posts deleted. Oh yeah, Shades lets people say whatever they want. How cool is that?

What's wrong with once-informed Mormons who now need a crash course in Mormonism For Dummies? Is that really all it takes to be classified as evil?
