Strength of the Church and the Impotence of Critics

Post by _moksha »

The strength of the Church is to be found in an unwaivering heart and stationary blind eye. The Church will endure and neither the waves of critics attacking nor the mud trenches of the apologetics shall hinder the manifest destiny of the LDS Church to live long and prosper.

I need but one example to prove this claim. Remember when several land deals occurred that were of direct benefit to members of the finance committee but were multi-million dollar losses for the Church? Buying all that arid and useless desert land would have caused shock waves enough to shatter the Crystal Cathedral and ground the Hour of Power. The 700 Club would have been reduced to 6.5.

The Church's prime media outlets The DesNews and Bonneville Media realized this story was a non-starter and stayed out of it. Only those local ax grinders known as the SL Trib and SLC Weekly reported on this story. The Church demonstrated its invincibility and wisdom by having no reaction whatsoever. Our Authorities knew that the members would see the necessary truth in these transactions and let their faith do the rest. This was not simply the miracle of apathy at work, but a demonstration of members unyielding trust in their leaders.

That is why any critical attacks, beyond serving as a personal catharsis, will end with a commonality to the old Kansas song, Dust in the Wind.

I agree with your assumption.

The founding Prophet of the Restoration boinked, among others, a fourteen year old girl and several married women, was jailed for trying to suppress stories about his philanderings, whilst in jail flagrantly broke the word of wisdom and temple covenants, ripped members of with a banking scam, got verifiable translations completely wrong and shot people.

He makes Warren Jeffs and David Koresh look mainstream.

But try and find an active Mormon who will not either deny all these things or will place them as unimportant, in order to maintain Smith as a Saint and a Martyr.

Money and sex. They should make a prime-time soap opera, "Joseph", about him, along the lines of Dallas, Falcon Crest and Dynasty.

I'm not familiar with this. Can you provide more information?

Have not heard that one before, you have a link for more information?
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.

An HBO miniseries like "Boardwalk Empire" would be perfect. I can see Steve Buscemi with his face in a hat right now.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Even after the proto-man had discovered the use of tools in 2001: A Space Odyssey, can you imagine this proto-man getting angry, waving his wooden bone club and trying to strike the Monolith?

No obfuscations or denials by a proto-apologist would be necessary for the monolith to remain silent and unscathed.

Disagree. The truth can easily be found on the internet if one seeks it. Once the true source of seer stones and pagan documents translated incorrectly works its way into common knowledge for the LDS, it's game over... only a matter of time.

Mormons are very happy people and we have the Prozac, Zoloft and Wellbutrin to prove it.
