Third time's the charm...

Post by _cinepro »

Hmmmm....Either a new moderator, or a change in attitude. I've posted the SugarBeet satire "LDS Church Patents the Holy Ghost" article at least two other times:

http://www.mormondialogue.org/topic/435 ... ge__st__20

http://www.mormondialogue.org/topic/530 ... ge__st__80

As far as I can tell, there was never a negative reaction to the article from any LDS, with a few responding positively.

So, with a thread titled "We Are Like No Other Church In The World…Gift Of The Holy Ghost.", it seemed a natural place to repost the article (since that is exactly the idea that the article is illustrating). But within 3 minutes, it had been taken down with the comment:

Ummm... No.

No mocking each others' beliefs
No attempting to provoke people
Do not use offensive terms for things we hold sacred
Do not post anything else you know is meant to do nothing more than push others' buttons

-Ares

Very odd. I would at least have expected to it to be deleted based on it being a post that consisted entirely of a quoted (copyrighted) article.

Someone's got it in for you, I think.

It looks like Will is active on the board at the same time, so if he really is a mod, it could be him. If it was him, I thought he had a better sense of humor than that, but I've misread people before.

I get a kick out of satires about Jews and their sacred beliefs too.

Then you would LOVE the Book of Mormon.

I think he would also love a bunch of 19 year-old WASP's at the MTC in Provo singing "Ye Elders of Israel" in reference to themselves.

ROFL.

I especially love the line about how if the Catholic Church wants to call on the Holy Ghost to testify in court on their behalf, they would have to license him first, and that would prove the Mormons' case.

And then there was this line:
The lighter side of an investigative missionary's job is to allow non-Mormons to experience the Holy Ghost® on a trial basis. The potential user must officially register for the companionship of the Holy Ghost® before the evaluation period is up, or the Spirit will be automatically removed.

It's hard for me to understand what motivated the outright deletion of your post by the mod over there. I mean, even a faithful Mormon should get a good laugh at this one. It sounds like a slightly more sophisticated, less-folksy version of something Kirby might have written.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

At first I thought you were just being sarcastic.

But then I remembered that you’re the product of a law school named after J. Reuben Clark.
